UGLIEST Aircraft Built and Flown

Many Farman designs were aesthetically challenged, but the 3-engine variant F.120 Jabiru was truly hideous.

I forgot to add the b-24. Not as bad an offender as some here but for me it's definately to ugly sister of the US ww2 bombers.

Aesthetics are a funny thing - I find many of the designs on this page elegant and pretty - yet I could never fathom the B-17... I always preferred the B-24...

Mind you, one of the Fleet Shadowers was built by General Aircraft, so the last thing that should have been allowed was for G.A.L. to merge with Blackburn. Was this the heaviest/most powerful fixed-gear aircraft ever built?

I agree...the COMPLETE Farman production!

I wouldn't go that far, JM. Consider the Farman-Renault F.380 monowheel racer, which I find quite beautiful.

As a Cobra guy... posterior ugly! It's no wonder Apache pilots have an inferiority complex and compensate with big watches and egos!

If it just had retractable landing gear it would look so much better.

That is one ugly aircraft the Blackburn Blackburn absolutely hideous. Quickly followed by the Boeing X-32 of course.

The Blohm & Voss BV 141; ugly but some how beautiful.
btw the image found on the interwebs appears "photo shop" from page 260 of the Guthman book Aeronautics Aircraft Spotters' Handbook 1943.

Not so much ugly as just plain weird

I can agree that the Blohm & Voss BV 141 is certainly a weird looking plane that is for sure 1635yankee, what was with the weird looking cockpit design? Were the engineers on something when they were designing it.

You know, I was watching that picture below, and thinking that, very remarquably, not a single element in that flying death trap makes any concession to the basic rules of aerodynamics. The whole package is kinda screaming HELL NO, AERODYNAMICS: WE DON'T GO !!!
- undercarriage: NO
- engines: NO
- wing profile: NO
- fuselage: NO
-cockpit: NO, thrice (or fourth, with the rear gunner - it's like a provocative work of art)

One must wonder if interwar Armée de l'Air officers and French aircraft designer had contracted brain syphilis en masse from Gamelin... What on earth were they doing in their free time, if monstrosities like these were what they achieved at work?

France 1918 triumphant aircraft industry had been guttted to near anihilation by 1922 : and would not recover until 1952

More jewels

Sunrooms make such great drop-tanks…wait…

The M-15 I actually like…but the Goblin parasite has to be the correct answer.

Even Kolko looks sleeker than Goblin.

I think I saw Kolko on Dragonball Z…

About the photo for the A-10 sure it is ugly but it is well hung as the Hog pilots say. You would not like to go up against it especially not against the Avenger 30mm cannon.

Me too. Would be interesting to make a WWII LW "variant", same shape overall but old school jet engines and guns. HS.129 except modified with jet engines and A-10 shape.

Ilyushin Il-38 (May) dressed up to look like a P-3 Orion

Farman Jabiru... at least in its early iterations.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farman_F.120#Variants (my goodness, it looks like a gallery of horrors !)

"Guy, where is my cockpit ?" Incidentally, FAHAF sounds like the noise of somebody dying of a severe bout of coughing - triggered either by horror, or by uncontrollable laughing...

The twin headlights looks like eyes, which only makes it looks even more ridiculous...

What is with the twin propellers stacked on on top of the other? That is just weird, it is the propeller version of the Lightning except with the engines in the front.
