Cool, Trump designing his own fighters now....
I suspect that he misunderstood some part of his briefs (let's be frank, normal person isn't military geek).
That he described as F-55 sounds not dissimilar to the reasons why LM F/A-XX proposal failed.

They said "radar not strong enough and insufficient landing performance".
One way to read it is some sort of twin-endinged(navy) tailless(stealthier) F-35VISTA. Canards won.

Or F/A-XX Just using lots of F-35 Hardware which he thinks makes IT a super F-35 ala Super Bug

Basically that's it. For example, LM pushing 3rd generation F-35 hardware(block 5 onwards) onto their F/A-XX(for maximum unification and lower costs), and navy not wanting smaller radar from a smaller plane, which they'll have on their actual F-35CXs anyways.

Then(i'm speculating of course) Pentagon decides, that this is an interesting way to get another aircraft cheaper - and it's worth adding into F-35 pipeline (for example, for USAF) even after its loss in original role.

After ten years do we really pretend to not understand how Trump takes in, assimilates and regurgitates information?

With fairly high confidence here’s how the conversation went. Not sure how the topic came up talk of NGAD or the new Chinese 6G fighters but Trump probably asked about what “we’ve got coming out”. A navy admiral, in describing the FA-XX probably said it’s like a super F-35 but it will have two engines. Two engines are safer blah blah blah.

Trump then took this and came up with his confusing name and description. He’s talking about F/A-XX I’d bet on it.

What is going on with the F-35 and crashes these days? Good news that the pilot ejected safely and survived.

So it is more or less to do with the how many F-35's that are available at any given time and how many get used per day.

It will be interesting to see how many F-35s will be lost to accidents over the years of the program in comparison to the F-16.

Calm down folks. Things break down, that's the nature of complex mechanical items. Plus it's just media clickbait trawling.
If a USN Super Hornet had diverted there, it wouldn't have even made a two-line news item.
I don't necessarily agree or disagree. Given that the UK is broke and lacking everything from funds to manpower I could imagine that the maintenance on some of their birds is falling short. After all, this is the second incident in a short period of time for British F-35Bs. No USMC F-35, no Italian F-35, yet again British.

So I agree, the issue probably isn't the F-35B itself, but the problem might be the state of the UK armed forces (which is terrible).

And how many breaks happen that are fixed on the carrier without being reported? As anyone who has been in an operational squadron knows there would be dozens. There is nothing to talk about here.

Probably a lot which get fixed. But also plenty which lead to such incidents like the two of the past couple months (how long was that F-35 stranded in India?). Are we going to pretend now that the UK military isn't in an utterly sorry state? I must've missed the memo than.

according some news outlet

Do President Trump Tarif war
Canada, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland's have cancel there F-35 orders
US Military Industrial Complex lost around $45 billion

What alternative the four have ?
French Dassault Rafale
Sweden Saab JAS 39 Gripen
India HAL Tejas Mk2

Canada : nope, won't happen. It has been a perenial debate, going in circles over the last 15 years, yet they never opted out. Plus, they already have 16 planes out of 88 wanted, no way out. And a second plane would make logistics a nightmare, as would "only 16" F-35s.

Spain and Portugal : nothingburger, they were never "committed" in the first place. "Vague intentions" and nothing more.

Which leaves Switzerland, and there - there will be blood, indeed.

Dozens. In fact most combat aircraft (and indeed civilian aircraft) operate daily with unserviceabilities. It is normal.

I don't believe the cause of the Indian incident has been revealed so it is hard to make any meaningful comments without facts. I suspect the issue was probably with a part that is hard to get - not actually the RAF/RN's fault but rather the contractors. The Indian one would also have been challenged due to the need to deploy maintenance staff and tools since there would not have been anything in India to support the F-35.

Oh grow up! The F-35 issues are independent of this.

A pair of F-35Cs and a pair of RN F-35Bs I saw in March....

Enjoy the Day! Mark
