Hi,

"While the US military is working on improvements on JASSM, the military is considering next-generation technologies. One concept the US Air Force is currently tinkering with is called the "Surge Suppressor", which would be comparable to or based on JASSM but would carry a load of laser-guided submunitions. Instead of dumping all the submunitions on a single target, the Surge Suppressor would identify a target, hit it with a single submunition, and then go hunt for more targets."

Any additional info?
Any drawing/visualisation?

I wonder if it would also carry the designation system onboard?

That was apparently the plan. This was back in 2003 or so.

(I'd link the Aviation Week article but I can't find it there.)
