Just the same press release in 'New Scientist'...

Um, I'd still want a heat-shield warrantied for one (1) ballistic entry, just in case, just in case...

FWIW, you could probably charge up the toroid while in orbit using a conductive tether, and get 'free' retro-braking into the bargain...
