A trio of films mixing footage from the Golden Era of car chase films (late 60s - 70s), some later stuff and music. Of the three I like the last one which uses the Black Crowe's Go Faster as the backing track...

I'm unsure if this belongs here, given that it's more so automotive discussion/design analysis. But when one takes a look at the current offering of V12 flagship performance cars, of which only 3 currently exist in the volume market these days. I cannot help but to think that Lamborghini and Ferrari really dropped the ball designwise, especially given how competitive the premium segment is, how prestigious the powertrain and what cars these models replace.

While I can certainly see the resemblance of the 365/4 GTB in the new 12Cilindri, I cannot help to think that the proportions are off, especially with regards to the stance/presence of the car. Furthermore the prominent sharp edges featured on the car clash heavily with more rounded shapes on the vehicle and the overall template given by the Daytona, which was a very smooth car.

The Revuelto on the other hand simply looks messy. Very messy in fact. While the Aventador already introduced more complex geometry into the design compared to the likes of the Murcielago or Countach, there was still a logic and flow to the complexity. Especially in the side profile. The Aventador S (aka the Facelift) in particular turned out to be oddly elegant for such an aggressive design. Something the Revuelto is completely missing. The amount of lines, edges and negative space is astronomically and makes the car look dazzling, not in a good way.

As for the Aston Martin, while the new Vanquish was originally meant to be a mid engine supercar, plans evidently shifted. Now the new Vanquish replaces the DBS Superleggera as Aston Martin's V12 flagship, with the V8 powered DB12 positioned below it, followed by the Vantage as the entry level offering. Out of the three cars mentioned, I think the Vanquish is visually the most pleasing. It's size and proportions give it a distinct presence, the details in the headlights and rounded off vent in the side give it a softness and roundness which make it positively simple. It's easy on the eye in a literal way, almost soothing. As compared to the visual assault that's the styling of the Revuelto or the clash of styles present in the 12Cilindri.

Below are the three cars compared to each other and their predecessors/design inspiration:

Lamborghinis always have been leaning on a supercar side. Aston’s are mainly GT cruisers. Ferrari in my opinion always has been a bit inconsistent in the designs; throwback of that, that from a new car, and etc. The side of the 12Cilindri really doesn’t look good for me. Newer Astons are starting to be more aggressive, but you can still see the GT side of the car. Lambo’s for me are just pure supercars that will end up in kids posters.

I found this website by putting the picture into Google, "Objekt GRUM" is a home-made tank used as an armored vehicle for fighting in Air-Soft arenas.

The whole article even explains why and how it was made, pretty cool.

The Hertella Coffee Machine Mounted on a Volkswagen Dashboard (1959): The Most European Car Accessory Ever Made

Current auto-industry wisdom holds that no car without cup holders will sell in America. Though this also seems to have become increasingly true across the rest of the world, I like to imagine there still exists a country or two whose driving public holds fast against that particular design vulgarism. Such places would, of course, lie deep in unreconstructed Europe, where nobody can go long without coffee. The solution? The Hertella Auto Kaffeemachine, the first and only known dashboard-mounted coffee maker.

Something I wonder, given the demographics of the forum, what's y'alls favorite car?
EMO -

Howdy !

For sheer sex and performance, I like the 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback
“ Formula S “; with the 273cid 235hp “ Commando “ V-8. In “ Scorch Red “.
I’ve had 2…. one w/ an automatic….one a 4 speed. This car still turns my head.

Another pure sex car is the 2001 Dodge Intrepid, with a 235hp V-6 that comes in the car’s “ SXT “ package. Mine was a luminous red colored, that floated and danced off its surfaces when viewed through polarizing sunglasses. A superb GT car, with tremendous ability to follow twistees.

For all-around every day affordable fun, I am greatly enamored of the 2005 Chevy Aveo.
This car, made by Daewoo, could be had in either 5 door hatch; or 4 door configuration.
95hp and a 5 speed was offered, or an automatic. In Limted Edition trim, you got a wing on the trunk of the 4 door car. Euro clues like front fender side marker lights; and unmistakable European small car horn. Design penned by Pininfarina.

I rented one in Myrtle Beach SC, and came back from a day trip to 3 NASCAR tracks…just going on and on to my wife; about the red 4 door rental car w/ a spoiler & and automatic that the agency had assigned me. I was so impressed, I bought a red Hatch with a 5 speed; and embarked on a 5yr love affair w/ the car. The car had astounding road feel and steering feedback. Understeer was faintly detectable. Cornering seemed to have no limits, and I could approach my “ pucker factor “ at will. It was the first 5 speed car I owned/drove, and….. I kept finding myself reaching for a 6th ! The car was just stupid fun to dry. Alas, I seized the transmission in 3rd; when I bobbled a downshift doing 57 while jumping a Z3 on the NASCAR-like banked turn South of the Tulsa airport.

For me personally it's this one, the 992 GT3 Touring. Although I do have a fondness for all things Zagato like the DBS they did, or the 356. Bertone also made a gorgeous 911 Spyder. Coach building, retro-inspired designs and restomods are definitely up my alley.
