Hi,

the Shcherbakov IVS was a high-speed fighter project of
1937,it had mid-mounted M-120 engine with shaft drive
under floor of front cockpit to 0.666 gearbox for tractor
propeller, plus auxiliary boost PVRD at tail,Glycol radiator
was under fuselage ducted to main PVRD duct.Design to
reach speed 700 km/h,rising to 825 km/h with PVRD.
Its prototype was began to construct in 1940,but
never completed.

Hi,

I can't ID this fighter,it was called VI as I see,and seemed to be a half-jet or a mixed powered
fighter with rocket engine ?.

This project A.Scherbakov (1937), better known as "IVS" - Истребитель Высотно-Скоростной.
- Fighter altitude and speed.
Single Fighter.
Engines: Piston - M-120 (1650 hp) located behind the pressurized cabin and the pilot sub-ramjet engine design I.Merkulov. Under the fuselage was radiator (as well as the main inlet for ramjet) ethylene cooling. It is hot air flow to the injectors ramjet, which served as fuel for the same gasoline. Gasoline consumption for ramjet - 25 kg / min.
Chassis nose wheel, long shaft, gearbox to the propeller to the transfer 0.666. Armament: One ShKAS and two BS. (According to other sources /N.Yakubovich/: 1 - ShVAK, 2 - ShKAS, 2 - BS)
September 29, 1940 the project was approved by the Air Force: the scheme, a good overview and a record speed (estimated) 700 km / h; a ramjet - 825 km / h, the ceiling - of 12 000 m, with a ramjet - 14 000 m. However, in the beginning of the war, the project was not implemented.
Considering options IVS without any piston engine. Such aircraft by "air chain"
was towed to a great height, and after the uncoupling in the planning of a speed
providing the ability to enable and stable operation of the ramjet. Then worked ramjet
I was to develop a craving for self-sufficient aircraft flight speed increases
and altitude.
