When I commented in Post #1302 that the covers of Peter Elson's art for the Sphere Books release for some of the novels by author A. Bertram Chandler in the 1980s had not been preserved on the artists memorial website I was wrong. Here are the four covers without titling that survive.

I've posted the covers by John Berkey (Without Titling: Post #385. As Published: Post #1,632) and Josh Kirby (Post #1,753) for Isaac Asimov's 1954 novel 'The Caves of Steel'. Here is Michael Whelans 1986 cover art for that years republication of the novel by Ballantyne/DelRey.

I found a blog posting discussing what happened with those series, seems the Smith estate was not entirely happy with what the Japanese did, seems they mixed 'Star Wars' into Smiths setting.

https://skarohuntingsociety.wordpress.com/2019/01/05/why-is-the-lensman-anime-so-rare/

That said the film 'Lensmen: Secret of the Lens' can be found on YouTube if you know where to look.
I really liked the model kits.

I got a couple of models from GTC (GEC was a trek ship fanzine)

My personal favorite

I'm (not) sorry, but these things just look plain goofy to me - makes one wonder what Wells might have been on in those days...
Heres an interesting one,its not the war of the worlds, its john cristophers The Tripods.
These are the covers to the first 2 book in the series,The White Mountains & The City of Gold & Lead,by Tim Hildebrand.
Its got a war of the worlds meets middle earth feel to it.

Heres the triptych of the covers of the editions I remember reading back in the day.
I`m surprised hollywood hasnt picked this up for a Hunger Games type adaption.

That particular tryptich style cover for 'The Tripods' series was by Chris Moore if I remember it correctly.

The cover by Jim Burns to the 1976 Sphere Books edition of Harry Harrison's 1965 anthology 'Two Tales and Eight Tomorrows'. The cover is illustrating one of the stories within 'The Streets of Ashkelon'.

The cover art without titling and the cover by Chris Foss to the 1987 Dragon Books edition of Harry Harrison's 1975 novel for younger readers 'The California Iceberg'. For what it's worth the idea of hauling an iceberg south to provide water for drought stricken areas was a popular concept during the mid to late 1970s.

Two album covers for the Austrian based Mayflower Orchestra, an 'Easy Listening' music big band that operated in the early 1980s, their final albums 'Sounds & Styles' and 'Supernova' were released in 1985, the cover for 'Sounds & Styles' recycles Chris Moore's art for T. W. Hard's novel 'SUM VII' (1979). I believe the cover for 'Supernova' is also a Chris Moore artwork but I'm not sure which cover was recycled.

I want that ship for a game miniature. And, yeah, even the attacking one too.
Being flat panels with straight edges hull should be easy to scratchbuild or CAD for 3D printing.
Antenna can be represented with screen mesh and wire frames.
Ships would look right at home in the TTA universe, which used other Colin Hay art.

An artwork by Trevor Webb that was entitled 'Battle Over London' on the website I found it. Not sure what it was created for, but it was clearly made after 1977...

NOt sure where the second image is from originally , but it was used in the 'Starliners' TTA book , albeit reversed left-to-right . . .

From the French edition of The War of the Worlds by Charles Dudouyt (French, 1885–1946). Published by Calmann-Lévy ~ 1917
Very close to Wells' description apart from the colour - the drooling lower lip, the ability to raise itself on its tentacles in Martian gravity.

An artwork by artist Stephen Choi which while I have no information about it. It would appear, based on the array of figures on the dashboard to have dated from the 2000s.
