In 1949, at the previously announced tender DOSA students YI Alekseev and E. Kulaga teacher-led LD Arzón developed a draft of light sport aircraft Pilot KhAI-12 "Start", a single monoplane classical scheme with the engine M-14.
Later, in the HAI-led student SI.Kuzmina LA Kolesnikov designs single aerobatic aircraft KhAI-13 gymnast. The plane, designed to fulfill all of aerobatic maneuvers, designed in two versions: a wooden structure ("Gymnast") and metal ("Gymnast-M).
In 1950, the next contest DOSA student paranormal. Minkov constructed a single sport aircraft "Eaglet" (KhAI-14) with retractable landing gear in flight.
