Many thanks for your kind comments.

I now realise that if the M58 was penned in 1945 the camo scheme may well have been the later dark sea grey upper surfaces and sky undersides and high fuselage sides.
Ah well any excuse... ;) looks like I'll have to do two, one of each scheme.

Cheers
Peter

A little further.
Any suggestions re: markings would be most welcome.

Many thanks.

Once again many thanks Justo.

I now see I will have to adjust the fuselage roundel type and do the needful with the codes and serial numbers.

Easy to fix.

Best regards
Peter

Hi Jemiba
No problem.
2 camo schemes it is then.

Many thanks
Peter

Hi
second version as suggested by Jemiba.
Post WW2 war/Korean war scheme.

Plus re-numbered version of first scheme.

Comments and suggestions very welcome and useful as always.
Not sure serials WE271 and FR244 are okay?

Many thanks
Peter

"827 Squadron RN ,HMS Triumph Korean Waters 1952"
Interesting to see, that in the Korean theatre the old scheme was
still used, too, thank you !

Great work on a very interesting aircraft, Peter !
I was thinking about the prospects, the M.58 could have had. Although it would
have been slower in level flight, than the De Havilland Vampire, I would guess, that
climb and range would have been better. And with two engines, the "bring-me-home"
characteristics may have been better, too, although at the price of higher maintenance
costs. But it could have gained many of the export orders, the Vampire got instead.
So a french or swiss M.58 seems not unrealistic to me ... ;D
And then a two-seater probably would have followed the single seat fighter !

Thanks for the input Jemiba.

Hmmm...French or Swiss markings? That would make for an interesting twist.
I'll see what I can do.

Any refs of suitable French and Swiss schemes?

Regards
Peter

Oh my God. ... all I can say. But stay with FAA markings, if possible. British roudels look better than French... but Polish chequerboard is the best, of course. ;)

What about Italian, post-WWII, markings??

Italy purchased a lot of DH 100 Vampires and produced them with licence (Macchi did the work).

Chesc Domonik
Polish chequer board? Did Poland buy Vampires?
I promise to do something in Polish markings in the future when a suitable candidate presents itself.
;D

Hi archipeppe,
Okay then, but if you can provide suitable references, I am happy to do it.

Its not too difficult to do as all the detailing, light and shade areas are done as layers, so its a matter of doing new camo/flat colour layers and adding markings, emblems and insignia etc.

;)This may need a profile set all of its own ;D

Many thanks
Peter

There are not so much references in that. Anyway the few ones I have are enclosed.
Many thanks in advance Peter!!!!!

P.S. Italians' Vampire markings are quite easy, they were all polish-metal with the classical three colours rounds and small wing markings in the tail (4° wing "Cavallino Rampante" or 6° wing "Diavoli Rossi"), with a small black band in the nose.

Hi again archipeppe

Thanks very much.

On the third all metal view, is that a Ferrari-esque black rampant horse but on a white background to the shield?
''Cavallino Rampante''

Yes the markings will be quite easy to adapt, but the all metal surfaces will take a while longer.

Many thanks again
Peter

''Cavallino Rampante''

Yes of course. It was the official marking of Francesco Baracca, the most important Italian ace of WWI, it was source of inspiration for Enzo Ferrari which was looking for a logo for its firm...

"..British roudels look better than French.."

I like both ! Maybe the Aeronavale version even looks better with yellow and
black stripes of the Suez campaign ... ;)
And apart from the performances, this little aircraft would have had or not, it's
worth an entry in the "which project should have been built" list !

We'll have our own multi-national air wing at this rate ;).

Czesc Peter ;)

Poland didn't buy Vampires or Meteors, but there were plans to do that after the war. Unfortunately Jalta and Teheran pushed Poland into Stalin's and communist hands. So, if there hadn't been Jalta Polish Air Force would have been equipped with British aircraft.
And this is only 'what if' topic, so why not British Secret Projects in Polish, afterwar, markings.
Nevertheless, your works are incredible. Stay with the British.

Pozdrawiam

Dominik

I'm convinced; a Polish M58 I will do. ;D

More help please.
Could anyone tell me the correct text for the tail of the French M58 (ringed) plus any other obviously missing decals/stencilling please?

Many thanks
Peter
