Hey, bossman, are you using regular-cut fiberglass cloth for the hulls, or bias-cut cloth?

Pictures make it look like regular cut, with some threads running the entire length of the piece of fabric instead of the threads running at 45deg to the length of the hull.

I'm asking because bias cut cloth does a much better job wrapping around shapes. Bias cut is somewhat more wasteful of materials, since each bolt of cloth ends up with a couple good-sized triangles on each end that aren't as long as the main strips.

I use whatever weave they have in the weight I need. This ain't the SkunkWorks you know!

Bias cut means cut from the cloth roll at an angle. Buy the whole roll as normal, cut your pieces out at 45deg to the roll.

We gotta get you a high-definition sonar to find things on the bottom. Pricey things, though.

Is there any way to have a "subsunk" pinger installed on those? Pinger only activates when sub is on but is submerged and hasn't moved in 10-15min?

Commercial 'fish finders' do the job well. And noise-makers have been employed as well. Jake's boat had no 'pingers' and he's too cheap to buy a frig'n fish finder. Useless hunk of flesh!

Standard Seawolf? No, that's a Virginia because of the chin sonar.

Yup. 1/96 VIRGINIA. Not a bad kit, and the fit of the two hull halves is almost perfect out of the box. Don't know the manufacturer; as that kit was brought in by someone I was training last week. (He took the pictures).
