Major incident at RAF Fairford - NEWS ONLY !!!!!

I could very well see this being an attempt by the US to get the UK to join in on their losing war against Iran, or use this to increase their troops presence in Britain even further. Because this seems too half hearted, convenient and easily thwarted "just in time" (as many of these instances). When Iran would've more than likely extensively utilized drones in such an attack. After all they showcased over the entire MENA region that they can identify, target and destroy strategic US assets with drones and missiles quite easily. Smuggling a couple drones into the the wide open borders of the UK is far easier and less conspicuous than three wide vans filled with what seems to be Africans, lol. Not to mention that it's infinitely harder to destroy well defended tankers and AWACS than it is to destroy virtually undefended bombers on UK soil.

A false flag operation, questionable against an enemy, beyond stupid against an ally. Imagine the damage when the UK government would find out. Which it would, inevitably.
No, not really.

Given the recent pattern in the western controlled sphere with all these supposedly"russian" drones and "iranian" plots everywhere, this is imo exactly what it is except both US, UK and likely the unmentionable entity are on it behind the scenes, just another attempt to forment hysteria and manufacture consent for yet further war escalation be it again Iran or Russia or both. This is so transparent that no one with half a brain can be fooled.

From The Independent:
Counter Terrorism Policing said on Monday that multiple new lines of inquiry have emerged after investigators were working at the scene overnight.

Its senior national coordinator, deputy assistant commissioner Vicki Evans, said:
[...]
“I am very aware of the levels of speculation about the motivation behind this incident, and the geopolitical questions that are being raised. However, I ask that at this time, Counter Terrorism Policing are given the space to work carefully and clearly".

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has told Fox News network's "Hannity" programme that it was clear a "foreign actor" had been involved.

Without providing evidence or giving further details, he told the TV show: "I have to be careful, there are some things I cannot say on the air for a lot of different reasons. Suffice it to say, that what happened, what almost happened, what could have happened, in the UK over the weekend, is a very serious situation.

"It’s one that clearly involves the hands of a foreign actor."

Three white panel vans, five (?) occupants.
And elsewhere it has been suggested that they were fuel thieves targeting local farms.

Rural crime is a problem in the UK, and not just rustling livestock, with vehicle thefts high on the list. Fuel theft is a problem in the UK and not just the odd drive off without paying from a garage forecourt, but vehicles, cars and vans, fitted with extra tanks to hold quantities larger than a normal fuel tank. And with diesel at 199p per litre on average and up to 240p per litre, nicking a large quantity from a farm tank, even if they have to remove the red dye, would be a lucrative nights work.
Sounds perfectly plausible to me.
I live in a rural area, equipment and fuel theft are reported here often enough to make people suspicious of loitering vehicles, especially panel vans.

Today's news from Wiltshire:
https://www.wiltshire999s.co.uk/zia-yusuf-mocked-raf-fairford/
Zia Yusuf mocked after RAF Fairford ‘national emergency’ demand
In a social media post this morning (Tuesday), Reform UK said: “Zia Yusuf calls for a national security emergency to be declared at RAF Fairford.”
[...]
two separate military sources claimed the men were thieves attempting to siphon fuel.

The sources said barrels and other equipment associated with stealing fuel were discovered in the three vans, which were reportedly positioned close to a diesel supply.

For your appreciated attention:
"News Only" means, that posting news is allowed, sources may be online, printed, TV, but please, always be mentioned.
NO comments, NO speculations about them.

But perhaps someone could create an SPF community on X, Reddit, Twitter, or wherever, where such obviously much needed debates could be posted ?

I was on Twitter, quit when it became X.
I think the natural chat solution is a Discord channel, which I set up in the past, but the demographics of Discord users doesn't really overlap with the demographics of this site. It would need enough people participating to become self-sustaining.

I'm a member of a Discord group for Shipbucket. I wouldn't recommend going down that route for several reasons. Demographics is one of them plus you have the additional workload and hassles of running and maintaining a Discord channel (bots, phishing, AI slop spam etc) that wouldn't have any value to the site and might tarnish the reputation of SPF as a serious site.
I don't really think that we need a debating platform, stuff like this thread is highly incidental to the purpose of the forum. It's enough that we have The Bar to park this kind of stuff.

From NBC news:

The Pentagon is withdrawing all of its B-1 bombers from the RAF Fairford airbase in the U.K. The move, categorized by two officials as quick or rushed, comes just days after five men were arrested for a suspected terror plot involving vans containing explosives parked near the perimeter of the base. NBC News’ Julie Tsirkin reports.

I'm not at all surprised about this bit of news concerning the B-1Bs deployed there.

The New York Times security correspondent Eric Schmitt speaking on BBC radio news indicated that intelligence sources regarded the threat to the base to be credible & severe. And severe enough that the bombers had to be moved.

Be we allowed to ask the state of the B1 fleet stationed there?
As a question relevent to this NEWS?

The gentleman I quoted up thread said the threat was active and ongoing, that European intelligence agencies had fed into the US decision, he specifically mentioned German intelligence services.
