GREAT ESCAPEE Sqd Ldr Brian Paddon was in touch with M19 during his time in Colditz and captivity and after his escape. This was undercover work while serving with the RAF as a test pilot. M19 was part of the British Secret Service during WW2. I would like to know more about its activities , ideally with reference to Paddon as I am in contact with a family member.

After speaking to Paddon's daughter I wrote an article for the Helensburgh Advertiser. It appears he never wrote an autobiography because of the Official Secrets Act. In captivity and at RAF Helensburgh he was in touch with M19 while his role as a test pilot was also covered by the Official Secrets Act. So an autobiography was never written. He emigrated to Rhodesia post war and died before writing one. padgirls.png Paddon was reunited with daughters Erica and Shane at Helensburgh in 1942. His wife, their mother had died so the children had no parents until Paddon escaped. Picture from the family album (Bird. )
