Speaking of space stations, Astronautix posted an article about 1958 soviet sf movie/documentary, titled Road to the Stars (Doroga k zvezdam). There's a lot of similarities with Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Tikhonravov gave technical advice and special efects are simply amazing for that time.
