The future past....the late 60's we're like a time wrap into the future. SST, men on the moon etc.... The world just felt more modern and advanced then than it does now. Maybe it was the drugs???? :D

Mmmmm, am I wrong or the first one seems related to the Republic REP-10 ? Interesting are the bug-like individual cockpits. The McDonnell-Douglas one is a mid-to-late 70s concept. Then there are two shots of the SCAT 4 concept and two of the tests done at Langley on a Concorde look-alike large-scale model in late '60s.

Note that I've fixed a slight bug in that post... you should now see a second photo of the same model. That is a SCAT 15-3 configuration. IF it's not a NASA model, it could well be a North American model; I know I've seen designs they did of that configuration.

Yes, they did, save for the bug-eyes cockpit. They presented a score of configurations at Le Bourget 1963. I'm posting them in the SST pre-1971 thread (just to keep the forum consistent.. and because I haven't yet undestood how to cross post :-[) ;)

Skybolt,

That SCAT 4 was a NASA design? I thought it was Boeing

"SCAT" was a series of generic NASA concept configurations. The aerospace firms took the NASA database and designed aircraft based on some of the SCAT configurations. That's why there were a number of competing companies with very similar designs.

...And should not be confused with S/CAT, which stands for Spacecraft Configuration And Testing.

A bug-eyes cockpit featured in a SCAT-derived Convair SST study, too, found in the Jay's Miller's archive.

ADDITION:

And the original NASA's SCAT 15 HAD bug-eyes...
