Ki-21 competition

Hi all !

In 1935 the Japanese Army held a competition for a new twin-engined heavy bomber.
The winner was Mitsubishi Ki-21 " Sally ", but there where also two other competing
aircraft , the Nakajima Ki-19 four aircraft of the Ki-19 where build , but the third aircraft
the Kawasaki Ki-22 ( project ) is still a mystery for me , anyone knowing more ?

Two prototypes Ki-19 were built, first flight occured 03.1937. They were very similar with Ki-21. Designer was Kenichi Matsumura, he was assisted by Setsuro Nishimura and Toshio Matsuda.

In Autumn 1937 engines were repalced to Ha-6 (probably, the idea about 4 prototypes appeared because really there was 2 prototypes and both were modernized with new engines). Anyway, in November 1937 JAA preferred Ki-21 and Ki-19 was abandoned.

Here is the second prototype in photos. In April, 1939 Nakajima sold it to publishing company Domei Tsushin Sa as mailplane. It got a civil registration J-BACN. Of course, armament was removed (you don't see dorsal turret, for example) and bomb bay rebuilt for cargo delivery.

I'd like to look on the photos of the first prototype if possible.

frankly, I doubt about correctness of some data in the previous draft.

The span in the draft from "Japan project aircraft" is 833 pixels, the length 585 pixels.
If we assume the span is 22m, the length is 585/833 * 22 = 15,3 like in my sources, not 16,22 placed in the draft.
In the draft posted by me there are the same proportions (15,3 / 22).

The wide cabin indicates that here is two pilot inside (usual practice for Japan). So the crew shoud be 5 persons.
(2 pilots, bomber-navigator and gunners for dorsal and ventral turrets).

Other data seems reasonable, accounting that it's data after the modification (with Ha-6). So masses, speed are higher, the range is for the maximal bomb load.
750 kg is nominal and 1000 kg maximal bomb load according to the specifications (compare with Ki-21).
Do somebody know data or maybe drawings of the Kawasaki Ki-22 Heavy (More like Medium) Bomber Project?

Ki-22 is a heavy bomber aiming at defeating the airplane of the enemy airfield planned by the line-of-investigation revision in 1935.
It is the design proposal upon which it was decided by the Japanese army in 1935 and which Kawasaki submitted to the new heavy bomber trial production plan with Nakajima Ki-19 and Mitsubishi Ki-21.
Ki-22 became a failure in the stage of basic design audit in January, 1936, and the aircraft was not manufactured.

I´m still wondering if there are any planned data or drawings available regarding that Ki-22.

Hmmm....Very hard to find any valuable information for Kawasaki Ki-22 heavy bomber in Japanese sources. :'(
For what it's worth here is what I have on the Ki-19. Sorry, no plans for the Ki-22.
