Japanese 140/80 1933

Hello there,

I was browsing navweapons and came across a design mentioned in passing within the article about the Japanese 100/65. Apparently, there was an experimental 140/80 gun tested in 1933. I was hoping someone here had more information on the gun.

I never heard of such a gun and did not seen any mention of it on navweaps as well. I can see a possible re-lining of an old 25cm/45 (10") gun to 14cm/80 as a prototype, though the purpose of such a gun is another question as my friend said.

Ballistic research maybe? If I recall correctly, Britain and US also tested a very long barrel guns (converted from naval rifles) in 1920-1930s, presumably to research the problem of very long range fire.
