Hi everyone, I am a 19 year old college student from Dalian and a pure aerospace enthusiast. I've loved aircraft and spacecraft for as long as I can remember. However, most discussions of aerospace on X, Youtube or bilibili are tied to personal politics stance now, but there are no cyber political battles here (hopefully), allowing me to simply join and enjoy the technical discussion.

I am usually not really into aerospace but recently i have been really interested in the F119 and the izdeliye 30 and i couldnt really find the technical data that I crave (like for example ceramic turbines of the new NPO Saturn engines and stuff). I am YY2, am now 63 Y/O and am a retired Sr Scientist from the US. I graduated Stanford with an EE degree after serving in the US Marine Corp/Navy Air Wing in NBC. My career was in advanced aerospace and technology projects that spanned employment with DIA, DARPA, NASA, USAF Space Division, a spook private contractor. I was a direct report to a retired 3 star USAF General who had been the Commander of the US Space and Missiles Organization (who owned the private spook company). The company was finally dissolved being acquired by Northrop (while Kresa was their CEO) and I finished my career at Northop before the merge with Grumman.
After graduation, and as a civilian: among domestic SCI programs I also had engagments in data reduction and analysis of foreign technologies. While employed in the private sector, I also was a DELGATED Civilian Classification Authority for the USIC on certain programs funded completely outside of the US beaucracy, with no Congressional oversight. This required that I had clearances and need to know across a very wide cross section of advanced technology programs on behalf of the US, our allies and adversarial studies.
Most of the work I was involved with still remains outside of the public domain. However, I eagerly hope that some of it will be declassified in my lifetime so that I may finally be able to interact with the public that have shared interests.
I look forward to reading members content here and to contribute as much as possible within the guardrails that I have.

My name is Emily, I'm 20 y/o and study aerospace engineering here in Germany. Due to that choice I follow what one could consider a family tradition by now, which is getting involved with aviation. My father works for a very influential, very well known European aviation giant and my grandfather was active in the Luftwaffe. My interests aren't limited to aviation though, as I also have a keen interest in naval warfare, technology and history as well as land based systems like IFVs, SPGs and MLRS.
With regards to aviation however I'm particularly interested in Russian military aviation, US and Soviet/Russian long range aviation, as well as joint European developments like the very successful Tornado and Eurofighter.
I'm fluent in German, English and French and I'm making my first steps with Russian as well. I also believe that every ship between 3000 and 20000 tons displacement should be called a frigate.

I’ve been rigorously researching Aerospace, spurred on my live viewing on April 19th of the last of Expedition 72 departing from the ISS via the Soyuz-MS-26. I was spurred on by, first and foremost awe and pride in the human race. I’m unbelievably happy to be living now, in the age of space exploration, which is an age that will hopefully outlive the Earth itself if all goes to plan. And… I was spurred on by the shock that that had not been international news. “What else had I missed?”
I started vigorously self-educating myself in the wake of that broadcast, no longer content to think that I know even the most *topical* of space news. In doing so I found Mark Wade’s “Astronautix.com,” and in turn, this forum — I tried to contact Wade with the website’s contact button to offer a correction on Don Pettit’s biography, (happy belated birthday to him!) only to discover that the website had not been operated in far over a decade. The last real mention of him that I’d found had been… here. And if Astronautix is out of date, then I better stick to the more modern of the two.

I've been bumping into this forum for a bit as I do research for my own personal enjoyment. I'm not an engineer or a rocket scientist, I am, in fact, an accountant. I know, don't be jealous, we all know I work in the most sought after job in the planet.
But I also hold a B.S. in History and I've been fascinated by things that move and do things since I was a little girl. On a road trip one time, my Dad stopped at a bookstore and bought me a Big Book of Warships more to shut me up than anything else. Since then I've been fascinated with things that float, fly or move around on the land, especially if they shoot stuffs and make things go boom.
Anyway I finally got tired of finding the image I was looking for here clicking on it, and not being able to access it so I signed up.
One thing I did find just now was a discussion about unbuilt German cruiser designs from the interwar period and the discussion veered off into the mess World of Warships had made of things. I, personally stopped playing when nuclear powered submarines masquerading as WWII boats made their appearance and battleships started dropping depth charges on them. I can only suspend so much disbelief.
I heard some bemoaning at the loss of the WOWS forums and the futility of trying to convince the powers that be to retain some tether to reality. But I do miss the loss of investment in time deleting the forums imposed. Just for the personal enjoyment of it, I sat down and researched an entire set of tech trees for World of Pre-Dreadnaughts starting at the end of the age of ironclads and ending with the introduction of the first dreadnaughts.
I did battleships, cruisers and destroyers for all major powers and regions. I provided the history general comparative data, even pictures, as well as some information about the age of pre-dreadnaughts, the events that shaped them and their use, as well as a discussion about the various advancements in propulsion, armor, shells, guns and torpedo systems during that time.
And then poof, it was all flushed down the proverbial electronic toilet. Oh woe is me.
Anyway, I probably don't have much to add, but I did want to thank all of you more dedicated than I people who have the knowledge and take the time to share it all with the rest of us. You may not hear it enough, but people such as myself do appreciated.

Well, now that you say that I remember that I didn't introduce myself when I entered the forum either... but it's never too late for that: Straight, white, retired, conservative, fond of beauty, twentieth-century cinema, melodic music, coffee, wine and cognac, former tobacco smoker, former scratch modeler, amateur cartoonist and collector of information on aviation, astronautics and science fiction... I love this place.
It's kind a hard to introduce myself after so many amazing members. I have been lurking for decades. Then I stopped lurking altogether at least until the Chinese 6th gens started flying.
I guess, since I am the age of F-16 and YF-17, I also deal with stress a lot better, have older children who want nothing to do with me and by extension have quite a bit of free time (at least until grandchildren come).
I have flown in aircraft, jumped out of aircraft and been shot at by aircraft. Having survived all that now I drink inside aircraft and stand in line for a toilet breaks. That kind of sums up my involvement with the industry.
That and being a geek, of course. Or a nerd, or whatever you call man babies like me that never grow up...
I hail from former Yugoslavia, born in Croatia, emigrated to anywhere that didn't shoot at me via Bosnia and Serbia. Lived in Canada (too damn cold), in Italy (too much pasta), in Ethiopia (too many beautiful women), in Austria (they don't like ex colonies ), in Emirates (too damn hot), Cambodia (everyone looks like they are 12), back to Italy (they drive too slow nowadays, thanks to EU I'm sure) to settle in Kenya.
I built models (I glued my fingers to so much plastic i needed surgery), drawn aircraft (not enough patience, I'm hoping to mellow in the 60's), drank vodka with Russian and Ukrainian pilots (the only ones ever to survive peacekeeping Mi-8 crashes), been strapped to a 20-ft container on a 26hr flight in a Il-76 (I think)... Needless to say, it's nice (not) to relive some of these traumas by reading and discussing aviation.

It has the lowest measured drag of any man carrying airplane and currently resides at the Hiller Air Museum in Redwood City, California. He also designed and made the forms for a champion Formula1 air racer (the AR-6) and we posted videos about them on Youtube. Hope you enjoy my videos!

After retrieving more and more information from all over the place, I quickly learned that not all my knowledge was 100% valid and some were quite an incorrect representations of reality (hey, I was kid, forgive me!), with that in mind I moved on and became better in fact-checking and recognizing (partly) valid sources.
@F119Doctor pointed me to this forum at F-16.net, and I hope to find many more reliable gems of sources and opinions here.

I'm currently an undergrad student pursuing a degree with zero connection to anything on this site (Corporate Communications) and reside in Illinois. I stumbled across the forum a couple of years ago and have been lurking ever since. I primarily lurk around the unbuilt section of this site, since I'm interested in the various different projects that began and then lost out or were deemed unworkable, and how they might have looked. I'm somewhat of an armchair general of sorts; lots of opinions and ideas that sound good in theory, but who knows how they'd work out in real life.

i have just restarted after a little break of 43years. Have a mixture of Models from Vehicles, Aircraft, Ships mainly 1/72.
I just purchased Admiral Graf Spee 1/350 Academy with the intention to go on to Scratch building soon. Having read as due too given the order in late January 1943 for the two remaining ships to be scrapped, the possibility of instead converting them into aircraft carriers was discussed. Hulls would have been lengthened approximately 20 metres (66 ft) so will try and make then as an alternative and more power fire and technology for the time.
Craig D., approaching 70, general aviation pilot and retired aeronautical engineer. In retirement I am concentrating on amateur radio and increasing my electronics knowledge.
Fresh out of college I worked for 2 years as a flight test engineer (FTE) at McDonnell Aircraft at St. Louis on the F-15A/B program, in production support flight test. In early 1978 I spent 3+ weeks at Eglin AFB, in the McKinley Climatic Lab, chilling out with an F-15A. Late in 1978 and into the first quarter of 1979 I was assigned to the MCAIR test facility at Edwards AFB, helping to run flight tests on the AN/APG-63 PSP program. Back in St. Louis I was assigned to the F/A-18 program for the final 3-months.
In mid-1979 I joined Cessna Wallace Division as an FTE on the Citation II production support program. Similar work to the F-15 job, but as a licensed pilot (Commercial, Instrument, Multi-engine rated) I flew co-pilot on the flight tests. In 1983 I passed my ATP and CE-500 check rides. Test programs worked included: Anti-skid computer redesign, wheels/tires/brakes development and certification tests, Citation S/II (S550) development and certification, 552/T-47A Navy trainer development support, and lastly, the ATPTB initial flights. On quite a few weekends I delivered new airplanes for the Cessna Distributor network, until piston airplane production dried up.
In 1987 I joined Boeing in Seattle, Washington, in Commercial Airplanes Customer Support. I started as a simulator instructor, doing transition training in the 757 and 767 programs. I finished up supporting the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) program, specifically the Electronic Logbook deployment at Singapore Airlines. In between there were lots of internal IT programs and exploration of new digital data products and services for operators of Boeing airliners. Retired after 27+ years. I live near Gig Harbor, WA.
