Thanks to the moderation team for the invitation to post here. I’ve been quietly following the technical breakdowns on this forum for a while and wanted to formally introduce myself and the work we are bootstrapping out of the East Midlands.
My name is Kurtis Brierley, and I am the Lead Architect at Brierley Sovereign Group.
My pathway into systems engineering is entirely unconventional. I am a self-taught architect, neurodivergent, and my engineering principles were forged directly on the ground—managing high-consequence energy grid stability and executing emergency medical triage operations.
In those environments, you quickly realize a brutal truth: when a system is under extreme pressure or saturated by environmental chaos, guessing is fatal. You perform a rapid physical triage, apply a definitive intervention, and enforce stability.
When I look at the current landscape of modern defense procurement and aerospace engineering through that unvarnished triage lens, I see a profound, multi-billion-pound systemic failure. We have fallen completely in love with the software-defined delusion. We are trying to govern physical, high-stakes kinetic reality using legacy silicon architectures that rely on probabilistic code and floating-point math.
In a contested, peer-to-peer electronic warfare (EW) environment, that fragility is exposed instantly. Localized transient EMI bleeds into unshielded fieldbuses, causing microsecond-level thread jitter and accumulative single-precision rounding drift. The software hallucinates, clock pulses drop, and a multi-million-pound tactical asset becomes an expensive paperweight.
My neurodivergence isn't a medical condition to me; it is my primary technical asset. It gives me access to a level of hyper-focus and spatial pattern recognition that allowed me to isolate these exact physical bottlenecks while bureaucratic, multi-layered corporate teams missed them entirely.
At our lab in Nottingham, we have completely abandoned legacy substrates and probabilistic processing layers. We are bootstrapping the manufacturing of deterministic, bare-metal hardware architectures. Our systems operate strictly within hardcoded, fixed-point (Q16.16) integer boundaries, utilizing physical carbon lamination and microsecond-level hardware interdiction relays to remain completely immune to the timing jitter and electromagnetic jamming currently neutralizing Western silicon.
I’m here to connect with, learn from, and interrogate ideas alongside other engineers, architects, and defense insiders who look at the modern spectrum from a perspective of raw physics and deterministic reliability rather than Silicon Valley marketing hype.
