Impact of COVID crisis on the future of specific civil types

Overall, the administration said, jet fuel inventories in the U.S. are at or above the five-year average, except in the Rocky Mountains, where they are 1% below. That appears to point to the supply chain as the potential problem, various industry officials said.
Why am I more than a bit sceptical about that government claim.

Boeing to cut 10,000 fewer jobs than forecast as recovery speeds up:

The US aircraft manufacturer has about 140,000 employees at present and expects to stay at that level. Boeing said in October last year that it was aiming to reduce its staff from 160,000 to 130,000 through lay-offs, voluntary departures and attrition as the Covid-19 crisis and travel restrictions devastated airlines’ demand for new jets.

“We’re now seeing more stability in our staffing levels, as the commercial market recovery accelerates, our defence and government services business target growth opportunities, and we increase investments to further strengthen engineering,” chief executive David Calhoun said in a memo to employees.

Airline Jet2 has signed a deal to buy 36 new Airbus A321 neo planes over the next five years, as budget airlines plan for a post-pandemic boom in business.
The contract can also be extended to up to 60 aircraft, the airline said.
At the list price, the planes would be worth up to around £3.6bn but the company said it had negotiated "significant discounts".

Given how crazy the situation has turned, it's the minimum they can do.

Gone are the days of sexy legged cabin crew with a smile. Prepare yourself for those of a Warden and baton waving turnkeys.

I still wonder why they don't pass French bus drivers pepper sprey cans or tazzers... some people really deserve them.

Oh yes the new tax... Carbon offsets. Pretty soon people who exercise will need a permit to exhale carbon dioxide, aka plant food. Did you know plants and trees don't grow out of the ground ; they grow from the air as their carbon content comes from air. Only their trace minerals come from soil. More atmospheric carbon means more plant food and more plant growth. Sorry I can't resist using science.

Anyway with regards to airliners, what airliners? We are going to be traveling in AOCs solar powered trains... Only a three day trip from new york to California when the weather is sunny. Maybe we fly again one day but in zeppelins as long as they propelled by wind sails.

We will have to be careful of the get out clause which will state, "In conditions of calm or low wind, passengers WILL be required to assemble on the upper deck and 'blooooooow' in the direction of required travel".

France has nuclear-electric powered trains but admittedly, longest distance is 1000 km (Lille Marseille or Strasbourg - Bordeaux) not 4000 km... would take ten hours even at 400 km per hour, plus the Rocky Mountains right in the middle.

From coal to red beans? The green revolution.

The increase in Private business jet flight is here with us for the long term... At least until someone put a supersonic airliner on the market.

They would also need "air rage busting seats" - perhaps ejector seats ? Not happy ? pestering the stewardess, bothering the entire cabin ? EJECTION !
Some suggestion for the design:

8pax per row, economy class seating:

Business class:

No need for any heavy ejection seats. The Digester seat will be more efficient as being a source of fluids for green fuel!

Earlier Reuters report from Wednesday:

Covid vaccinations and associated mandates are not relevant to this topic (re: what was/ is intended - the clue is in the name). Would suggest sticking to the topic and the admins won’t need to become involved

Meant to post this a month ago. Note that this pre-dates Omicron arriving on the scene:
