A question, does anyone know how many J-22 Serbia had on hand just before the 1999 war? I found a figure for 1991 at 87, and elsewhere i found a figure of 41 for 1999 but that seems too low. What happened to the other 40 plus planes?

Several airframes went in other air forces.

And there is also attrition. Info says that serial production was split, wings and stabilizers to Serbia and airframe to Romania.

After the start of the conflicts between the former iugoslav states a weapon embargo was put in place. So there were no longer new aircrafts or spare parts available. The fleet was cannibalized.
