Hypothetical & Fake VTOL Aircraft,From Real One

When I was working on Boeing's Canard Rotor Wing program, I put together a model of a possible gunship variant. But the program died thanks to stupid management missteps and so we never got as far as looking at serious options for the overall concept. The model still looks cool though - well, OK, bizarre... :)

Where were you going to hang the ordnance?

LOL - in the days when this was going on, there was a strong feeling among "some" high-rolling analysts and Service people (and Congressmen) that all you needed was a gun. A lot depends on the scenario of course. We had just graduated from the old Fulda Gap era as the Soviet Union collapsed, and Desert Storm ushered in an era of hot-and-dry-places scenarios. Targets there were generally distributed over considerable area, not concentrated, and it took forever to kill them one by one with bombs. Almost all battlefield targets are addressable by guns though. Or so went that line of thought. Frankly I just wanted to build a cool-looking model, so I gave it a big gun and let it go at that. :)
