One thing off topic, but interesting to see the plans for a heliport in the year 2000. The Glass Age Development Committee designed this for the St. Giles' Circus in London. The decks were to be located in 150 metres above the ground (with tower, hangars and restaurants inside).

Was published in Der Flieger 3/1960.

Forgive posting about eight years after the last post (Is that a record?), but I did stumble across a blog entry from 2015 discussing this very proposal which has a couple of different pictures of the model featured in the OP.

In the early days of the motorcar, architects were already looking to what would replace it as the popular transport of the upper classes, and obviously, private helicopters were to be the transport of choice.

For there to be skies full of helicopters, there need to be places to land, and preferably high up so the noise didn’t disturb the people below. Very high up. On stilts.
