The subject has been discussed in other topics which I might move some posts from to here.

To summarise -

The Hawker Siddeley Advanced Projects Group was initially set up for SST studies, and the first known designations are SSTs. They then started designing other advanced high speed aircraft designs. Published books have used APG.xxxx, APD.xxxx, P.xxxx, Type xxxx, HSA.xxxx designations.

The designation system is a sequence of type numbers starting at 1000.

Brochures generated by the Advanced Projects Group use a designation of APG/xxxx/...
Drawings generated by the Advanced Projects Group have a title of APD/xxxx/....
Designs generated by the Advanced Projects Group are always referred to within the brochure as "Type xxxx"

  • Type 1000 - Delta wing SST.
  • Type 1003 - VTOL Delta wing SST.
  • Type 1009 - Generic VG studies of both transport and fighter/strike configurations. A model was airliner/transport and the ancestor of Type 1011, while B and C were fighter/strike configurations with B an ancestor design to 1017 and 1022.
    • 1009A1
    • 1009A2
    • 1009B
    • 1009C
  • Type 1011 - Variable geometry SST (low sonic boom).
    • 1011A
  • Type 1017 - RAF/Naval Strike fighter with variable sweep, lift jets and deflected thrust engines.
    • 1017B
    • 1017D
  • Type 1019 - Family of aircraft designs capable of Mach 5 or greater. Many different versions were drawn.
    • 1019/A1 100 seat civilian Mach 5 transport
    • 1019/A5 Military version of 1019/A1
    • 1019/A6 150 seat civilian Mach 5 transport
    • 1019/E2 Small Mach 5 research aircraft
    • 1019/E5 Larger Mach 7 research aircraft
    • 1019/E6 Alternative to E2 with engines in wing pods.
    • 1019/H1 Second stage vehicle powered by liquid hydrogen, designed to be launched from a booster aircraft
    • 1019/H2 Second stage vehicle powered by liquid hydrogen, designed to be launched from a booster aircraft
  • Type 1022 - Similar to 1017 but smaller.
  • Type 1023 - Variable geometry transonic transport akin to Type 1011
  • Type 1033 - VG hypersonic transport.
  • Type 1034 - Mach 4 canard variable sweep wing fighter. 1034S was a strike optimised variant of 1034.

Will add links and additional models as discovered.
