One of the model test configurations for the C2 Wasserfall had a ring wing. It’s mentioned in the Aerodynamic Development report and the wind tunnel model survived the war. The aerodynamic report says it was rejected due to unacceptable drag.

Тhe wings had less resistance than traditional wings .But it is also difficult to make circular wing with an asymmetrical appearance on the surfaces.

Off topic, maybe the same designer made the Vulcan ships from Star Trek and they had this shape.
