Afternoon all

I am after a 3-view drawing of the Gloster E1/44 (GA.1 / GA.2) Ace early jet fighter project.
From what I have read on the net, it was 33 per cent heavier, but 100mph faster than the Vampire!

Regards in advance

From putnam's 'Gloster', page 308, and from 'British Experimental Jet Aircraft' pp. 54-5, although with these, the front and rear views are distorted by the binding, a fatal flaw in this otherwise excellent book.

EDIT:- my mistake, for 'GA.1' read 'GA.2' :-X

I think in the last issue of IAPR was an article written by Tony Buttler about the "Ace" !

Thanks gents

It looks as though it may have had some potential.
It had a nice clean nose design for an early jet fighter
Although I do not know just how maneuverable it would have been with its wings?

In Aeroplane Monthly, September 1993 was a quite comprehensive
article (colour profile from that article)

Have you any idea if the fighter would have carried a ventral fuel tank, similar to what the Gloster Meteor did have?

By the way, the E1/44 could have been a British equivalent of the F-80 Shooting Star, don't you think?

Best regards,
Piotr
