Strange V(TO)L re-entry vehicle concept designed by General Dynamics under a NASA contract in 1966-67.
After a normal re-entry and a parchutal descent, lift-engines are started, parachute is jettisson, and the vehicle operate as a VTOL aircraft to accomplish a certain amount of ranging to a suitable touchdown point where it lands verticaly.
