But the mergers in the french
aviation industry are truly a difficult theme in itself ...
In 1936, all the "pionneers" firms were merged into four huge groups (from a geographic logic)
- Nord
- Centre
- Sud-Ouest
- Sud Est
- Arsenal / SFECMAS was a small firm used as testbed by the governement (to compare its planes with the others)

Centre went bankrupt in 1949, leaving only 4 firms.
SFECMAS was former Arsenal, apublic firm funded in 1936 (VG-33 etc.) This was bought by Nord Aviation.

On the south were two constructors, one in the East, other in the West. They merged on 1st march 1957 to create Sud Aviation.
In 1970, Nord and Sud merged and created the SNIAS, or Aerospatiale, part of EADS since 2000...

Lovely pics!!!

Hello,
I know it is an old topic, but I can complete it a little bit...
in 1936, not only four, but six national societies were created: Nord, Centre, Sud-Ouest, Sud-Est, Ouest and Midi.
SNCAO and SNCAM were absobed respectively by SNCASO and SNCASE in 1940.

How manage Marcel Dassault to protect his new company during Nationalisations phase ?

you mean his new company is privat one, so it not falls under Nationalisation Act ?
His first company (Avions Marcel Bloch) was nationalized in 1936. He became administrator of SNCASO until Feb. 1940.
In 1945, back from Buchenwald concentration camp, he restarted a new private company. He definitely adopted his new name "Dassault" in 1949.
