G'day,

Seen on the bleepbleepcee nooz a few minutes ago.

"More generals to be fired" say's the US DoD.

Is this a glitch in the continuum or is there a real plan?

Could be both but one thing is certain that is Pete Kegsbreath is totally unqualified to be SecDef and IMO I think it's just a matter of time before Trump gives him the boot (Kegsbreath has already fucked up a number of times already).

Edit: One disturbing possibility (Mentioned IIRC by retired US Army General Ben Hodges) is that Pete Kegsbreath is going to require all of these admirals and generals swear a 21st century equivalent of the Hitler Oath pledging their loyalty to Trump; we're talking about some serious fascist nonsense in that case which will lead to no good.

And here's this hilarious article from The Onion concerning this meeting;):D.

Putting the strictest PT requirements on everyone is going to seriously wreck non-combatant roles and overall recruitment, when the US is already having recruitment issues. All the gamers that would make perfect drone pilots now no longer qualify...

We need to get our military back to the way it was, no woke, no DEI none of this horseshit, everything by hard work and merit, you have to earn it. We didn't have this crap when I was in the USN from 80 to 86 or maybe I should go to my safe space and chant oh how woe is me. All we need is another former lawyer or retired bloated, self-serving general or admiral leading DoD. And if you want to clean house and by the way, get rid of the UN, what a joke and it has been a joke for a very long time, oh and no more US UN bailouts. If Hegseth fails so be it, at least someone has the balls to speak up and give it a go to fix whats broken. Trump got re-elected because people wanted change, sorry to the Dems, socialists and communists. This post will probably get me banned from this forum, I normally try to avoid this crap. Oh by the way, Trump and Hegseth are responsible for the recent Alaska and Philippine earthquakes.

If you think "gamers" can't meet PT reqs idk what to tell you.
Well, and Ukraine showed that you can simply make them work out.

Back to topic.
Whether or not gen officers get fired or not is not an inherently bad thing. Want people like Gen Milley and co, mastermind of the NGSW debacle to lead the troops? People having too much of their own ego or getting money from corpos?

And, lastly, it's literally gen officers, not Patton. You are losing some, but not much.
Frick, Hegseth stopping JTLV new commissions shows that he has something to back himself up. Frugality encourage creativeness in scrap.

This is a Bar thread so I'll have the temerity to interject something off topic: I don't understand the JLTV and AMPV reductions. I'm not aware of any justifications that have been given by the DOD. What kinds of wars is the DOD planning to fight where neither lightly armored nor heavily armored vehicles will be needed? FARA I understand, M10 I understand, JLTV and AMPV I do not.

They are cutting future JLTV A1 procurements. A2s (AM made) are untouched, and existing A1 orders last till 2027, with 20k vehicle already on the line, and then there are the many hordes of MRAPs made during GWOT, so it's not like the US is facing a light vehicle crisi.

AMPV, dunno, but I don't think the downscaling will be that much impactful, after all it's a heavy carrier that's going to ABCTs first, which are the last ones to get on the list for rotation. And, it's just fiscal reality at this point. I could see fundings get re-appropriated to more crucial programs on the running like Sgt Stout/MSHORAD and PrSM and new C3I. That's the real game changer for future near-peer conflicts.

I sympathetize with those who think things are a bit brass heavy--but he made enemies unnecessarily.

If he just said he liked the armed forces as a whole--and just hated the Air Force...that would have went over much better. :)

I would not have required everyone drop what they were doing...better maybe to just give space force a pep talk.

We have too many jocks as it is.

The last time and this time Trump took office, I unplugged myself from all MSM and actual political quibble and you know what? You have greater clarity and focus on the things that actually matter instead of what amounts to be 99% political fluff.

This whole topic is, to me, political fluff.

Do people forget how many people Gen. Pershing and Adm. Nimitz fired during WWI and WWII respectively. Granted - we aren't in a war, but turn over isn't always bad. Generally speaking, the military (particularly the air force) has done a decent job focusing on a unified vision of how to fight in the future and that's not going to be changed significantly by firing a couple people. You'd have to fire a lot more for that to change significantly. If there are any peacetime officers of any level in the military right now, they ought to get purged.

This admin's choices for the Navy and Air Force chiefs of staff have done a pretty good job thus far. F/A-XX turned out to be political theater to get greater funding (which given congress's constant BS, I'm okay with) and despite everything going on with the E7, it looks like it's saved (though that's thanks to congress). Phelan has been continuing Del Toro's policy of inviting foreign shipyard investment to build up local workforce and there isn't a huge amount of shakeup in that area. Despite the fallouts with Elon and SpaceX, SpaceX has been (rightly) rewarded with many of the DoD's launches and contracts - as has other companies that have earned their share of the work.

I'd never vote for this admin even if I agree with a large portion of it's goals, but the axe in hand busting through doors with the urgency of an axe murderer in the "The Shining" is what we need and not some lukewarm reconciliatory bullshit to please career politicians hell bent on wielding some surface level semblence of equality as they see fit to impede progress. If you unplug from the political fluff that's constantly in the media, then this whole firing of more generals, closing of certain offices and what not - for the most part, isn't going to matter.

The overall message being delivered in this admin and by Hegseth isn't wrong - we should stop quibbling of ideological bullshit and get back to doing tangible things, though yes - that should have just been a goddamn email.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't have any problem with a good-faith culling... there are quite a few redundant organizations and activities we could probably do without.

Alas, we all know this isn't the case. It isn't for the sake of efficiency nor is based on merit--it's a purity test and only the loyal will survive.

Everybody needs to vent time to time

Oh, definitely and this guy has plenty to say about Pete Kegsbreath in the below video (And a lot of other videos):

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth held his little pep rally for the military on Tuesday morning, and it was about as pathetic as you would imagine. But on top of being pathetic, it was also insanely racist and misogynistic, with Hegseth saying that diversity is NOT a strength, and then going into a transphobic tirade about gender identities and how men are just better, in his opinion. The event cost millions of dollars was an even bigger waste of time than we thought it would be, as Farron Cousins explains.

And here's what Glenn Kirschner has to say about this disgraceful business:

In a deranged, demeaning, and dangerous speech to our nation's military leadership - officer and enlisted alike - Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump may have thought they could inspire the men and women of the military to switch their loyalties from the Constitution to a tyrant. They were dead wrong.
The danger and dementia of Donald Trump was on full display as he addressed the leadership of America's armed forces. Trump tried to pit the military against the citizenry by saying the military should focus on "the enemy within." And he told them that they should use American cities as military "training grounds."
If there was any lingering question about Trump unfitness to be commander in chief of the armed forces, he cleared that up with a speech that was as un-American as it was dangerous, as this video discusses.

Someone needs to explain to president Chump in a lot of small words what the Posse Comitatus Act is and how the US's cities are NOT the training grounds for the US Army and USMC. Also gathering ALL of those generals and admirals together in one room was a very bad idea, all it would take is one well placed bomb to destroy the command structure of the US armed forces.

WaPo: The Pentagon is making plans to impose strict nondisclosure agreements and random polygraph testing for scores of people, including many top officials, according to two people familiar with the proposal and documents obtained by The Washington Post.

I wonder what the legality of that move is? Either way there WILL be leaks occurring over time.

The only thing that's changing is everyone is required to meet the male standards and specifically combat arms are required to meet 70th percentile instead of 60th percentile in all areas of the AFT. It's still not very hard outside of the deadlifts and maybe the sprint/drag/carry. Combat arms who can't meet a 200 lbs deadlift fail the AFT. It's still much harder than the fake fitness standards of the 80s which was just 2 mile run (okay it was harder back then, but it's still cardio), sit-ups (lol), and half rep push-ups (lol).

All fitness in the 80s was fake and lame though because it was designed so the fat sergeant majors and generals from the Korean War wouldn't lose their jobs. That was before fitness standards derived from actual combat really existed so just having people need to complete a 2 mile run really fast and do like 40 pushups and sit ups was a lot I guess. PFT enjoyers would have a rough go maxing the AFT, let alone the ACFT, because they didn't do leg day and can't do the hand release pushup. They would lose at the SDC because the medicine ball sucks and probably throw their backs out from lack of deadlifts. Sorry.

Only thing that needs to change now is the taping of the neck so roidmonsters stop getting ABCPed because that's another backwards relic.

Back in 2013, when it was first proposed, the actual standard for ACFT was split exactly like Hegseth is saying, except non-combat MOS could have a separate female standard, and only combat MOS were held to male standard. In other words...we're going back to Obama's ACFT. Which means we're going back...to woke.

If we want to be even more woke, and more Obama, we can go back to the 2011 ACRT (Combat Readiness Test) where you do all the stupid sprint/drag/carry, run, and deadlifts but in combat boots and body armor. You had to drag a fat mannequin out of a Humvee turret and carry ammo boxes. I think the Marines do parts of this but only the 82nd ABN did the whole thing for a few weeks before AFT came out.

Anyway we'll see how long it lasts this time. It would be cool to have two separate tests, one more PFT oriented (i.e. easy and mostly about looking not super fat), and one more CRT oriented (i.e. actual readiness for battle and engaged in mock drills) for CS/CSS and combat arms respectively. The CS/CSS test can have female/male standards and the CRT can be unisex standards, unless they've decided to ban the word "unisex", I guess.

A CS/CSS Fitness Test (a "CFT") could be measured in simple things like number of push ups or speed in running. Combat Readiness, being mock drills like range quals or loading an M1 tank, is a simple go/no-go.

Bodybuilding culture, save us all. Or not?

I wouldn't chalk anything milstuff in Obama's tenure to "woke" though, man was interventionist and war-mogging as heck. Or maybe?

If you can't lift a 150 lbs Joe with 80 lbs of shit on him you probably shouldn't be an infantryman tbh.

The point of ACFT, and AFT after it, is that running is fucking stupid and PFT enjoyers can't lift for shit.

This inability to lift heavy objects literally killed a couple guys in Desert Storm. Eliminating the two mile run in favor of a ruck march in combat webbing and boots for combat MOS would be great. The 80s PFT was the "least lethality" of all fitness tests that DOD has ever had though. That's by design.

The Republicans wouldn't even know what "Woke" is if they tripped over it, they're manufacturing a mountain out of molehill.

They're claiming credit for undoing a change they made five years ago, basically.

No one knows if they'll bring back the power throw or maybe use a power clean instead. A clean would just result in half the Army getting their shoulders destroyed because Sgt McGuggins says it's okay to lift the 60 lbs kettlebell over your head hooah big sarge full send oh fuck my arm. Power throw sucks but the leg tuck really needs to come back it showed important core strength.

Running, literally, like legs all quartered up, max throttle at start, for two miles? Yeah that's definitely not up my lane and I run 10 klicks every evening.

Ruining your soldiers hearts valves, something I cannot see happening yet it did.
