We need to get our military back to the way it was, no woke, no DEI none of this horseshit, everything by hard work and merit, you have to earn it. We didn't have this crap when I was in the USN from 80 to 86 or maybe I should go to my safe space and chant oh how woe is me. All we need is another former lawyer or retired bloated, self-serving general or admiral leading DoD. And if you want to clean house and by the way, get rid of the UN, what a joke and it has been a joke for a very long time, oh and no more US UN bailouts. If Hegseth fails so be it, at least someone has the balls to speak up and give it a go to fix whats broken. Trump got re-elected because people wanted change, sorry to the Dems, socialists and communists. This post will probably get me banned from this forum, I normally try to avoid this crap. Oh by the way, Trump and Hegseth are responsible for the recent Alaska and Philippine earthquakes.
The only thing that's changing is everyone is required to meet the male standards and specifically combat arms are required to meet 70th percentile instead of 60th percentile in all areas of the AFT. It's still not very hard outside of the deadlifts and maybe the sprint/drag/carry. Combat arms who can't meet a 200 lbs deadlift fail the AFT. It's still much harder than the fake fitness standards of the 80s which was just 2 mile run (okay it was harder back then, but it's still cardio), sit-ups (lol), and half rep push-ups (lol).
All fitness in the 80s was fake and lame though because it was designed so the fat sergeant majors and generals from the Korean War wouldn't lose their jobs. That was before fitness standards derived from actual combat really existed so just having people need to complete a 2 mile run really fast and do like 40 pushups and sit ups was a lot I guess. PFT enjoyers would have a rough go maxing the AFT, let alone the ACFT, because they didn't do leg day and can't do the hand release pushup. They would lose at the SDC because the medicine ball sucks and probably throw their backs out from lack of deadlifts. Sorry.
Only thing that needs to change now is the taping of the neck so roidmonsters stop getting ABCPed because that's another backwards relic.
Back in 2013, when it was first proposed, the actual standard for ACFT was split exactly like Hegseth is saying, except non-combat MOS could have a separate female standard, and only combat MOS were held to male standard. In other words...we're going back to Obama's ACFT. Which means we're going back...to woke.
If we want to be even more woke, and more Obama, we can go back to the 2011 ACRT (Combat Readiness Test) where you do all the stupid sprint/drag/carry, run, and deadlifts but in combat boots and body armor. You had to drag a fat mannequin out of a Humvee turret and carry ammo boxes. I think the Marines do parts of this but only the 82nd ABN did the whole thing for a few weeks before AFT came out.
Anyway we'll see how long it lasts this time. It would be cool to have two separate tests, one more PFT oriented (i.e. easy and mostly about looking not super fat), and one more CRT oriented (i.e. actual readiness for battle and engaged in mock drills) for CS/CSS and combat arms respectively. The CS/CSS test can have female/male standards and the CRT can be unisex standards, unless they've decided to ban the word "unisex", I guess.
A CS/CSS Fitness Test (a "CFT") could be measured in simple things like number of push ups or speed in running. Combat Readiness, being mock drills like range quals or loading an M1 tank, is a simple go/no-go.
