Hi,

This site just opened:
http://sa-kuva.fi/

It has also English front end but the search works only in Finnish. The images are free for use with mentioning the source.

Wow, so I take it the Finnish Defense Ministry funded this project? Guess I'm going to have to translate some Finnish search terms.

It is an official Armed Forces project, not Ministry (if you care about organizational charts...)

The service still seems a bit sticky. It crashed a couple of times when hundreds of thousands of people went to have a look. It has been upgraded once or twice in the first day.

searching for "hävittäjä" finds fighters and some other aircraft ... the search does not recognize concepts: just words in the original captions, written in 1940s style.
