Found on internet: Aerofiles 8, Putnam 12, worldsmilitar site 28 serialnumbers, but not all buit.
My summary, for what it is worth: :'(
44316/44317 2 prototypes as XOSE-1
64569/64576 8 production as XOSE-1 or OSE-1 (were all built?)
75208/75213 6 production as XOSE-1 or OSE-1 (were all built?)
75214/75215 2 XOSE-1 (seems these were modified from XOSE-1 airframes)
75216/75217 2 XTE-1 trainers (modified from XOSE-1 airframes)
75625/75628 4 as OSE-1 (seems never built)
75629/75632 4 as TE-1 trainers (seems never built)
I put my money on 8 or 10 built including 2 prototypes. Anyone with better info??

According to my notes:
  • The Edo type was initially ordered as the SO2E but was changed to OSE before delivery. The "SO" mission was meant for battleships while the "OS" mission was for cruisers.
  • There were six XOSE-1 aircraft. The 2+4 breakdown I noted suggests these were 2 prototypes and 4 preseries (no evidence of an "OSE-1" designation for the latter).
  • There were two XOSE-2 aircraft (the biplace version).
  • Both versions used the 550 hp Ranger V-770-8 engine.
  • The production OSE-2 was not built (4 had been ordered). It was planned with the Ranger engine but a Pratt & Whitney R-1340-36 radial was also considered.
  • The XTE-1 was a redesignation of the two XOSE-2 aircraft. The OSE-2 would have become the TE-1 if built.
So altogether 8 aircraft built.

Since we don't have a topic on the OSE, allow me to share a few pics. First of the XOSE-1:

Great! I have never seen this one before. Very attractive little plane. Thanks Stargazer!

Now the XOSE-2, later known as the XTE-1:

Thanks for those pictures and especially the 3-view !
And interesting to see, who ads were made back then. The artits used
the primrose path, simply redrawing a photo. Good to know (suggesting,
that in similar cases it was handled in the same way !), as such ads can
be used as a basis then, too.
