Hi,

the Boscombe Down Racer was the winner in the Royal Aero Club Design
competition of 1953.

Looks like a reworked Heinkel He-162 Volksjager or at least it drew some inspiration from there.

Seems this study may have resulted in the Somers-Kendall SK-1 (G-AOBG). The SK-1 first flew on 8 October 1955, did have a Palas engine abd the V-tail, but was dimensionally somewhat larger than on the drawing.
Almost certainly the SK-1 is still in existence somewhere in the UK

At least it's refreshing to see one of these student studies come to fruition (more or less), it seems like the vast majority of them are stuffed into personal portfolios and resumes and forgotten.

The SK-1 had a length of 20ft 11in and span 22ft 10in and a much
higher aspect ratio. There isn't much relationship between the two designs,
I think, but "form follows function" and the easiest way to install a jet engine
into a small. glider like aircraft probably is, to put it on its back.
