Possibly, but Boeing will still have to do a gradual ramp-down for F-18 and that could take time, Boeing is still going to need a lot of people. If Boeing was smart and since NG is out, keep the same relationship for F/A-XX as they have for F/A-18, seems to be a good relationship as the program ran well. Having NG for the F-35 center section has worked out well also. NG has a lot of value to offer.

Perhaps cooperation would also be likely, given that there were staff involved at the individual projects of the competing companies like NG and LM. Peraps Boeing would have recruited some of them later on, but again, we don't know if that is what the did. I do hope they have both the manpower and the brain trust to make it all possible.
