Greetings All -

From the Gerald Balzer Collection, photos of the Batwing Aircraft Company X-1 from the 1930s. Designed by Walter McGinty, it was underpowered by a 40Hp Pobjoy engine and only flew in ground effect. Interesting design feature was a hydraulically extending nose wheel to improve take off performance in restricted areas.

Enjoy the Day! Mark

Wow!!! Priceless.

I'll never cease to be amazed by the variety and quantity of U.S. civilian prototypes during the in-between wars...

Thanks MArk, wonderfull photos
Is there a 3V drawing of this aircraft available?

These were the only photos in the folder - a quick look elsewhere and no luck with drawings.

Enjoy the Day! Mark
