Anthropic IPO docs reportedly reveal over $40 billion in losses last year

That's one way to sell an IPO, you couldn't make this stuff up?

Where this will become a very serious and potentially intractable problem is if such an AI becomes sapient.
But it won't/can't. The ability to evaluate the self is consciousness and thus essential to sapience.

That looks a lot like a description of some typically human behaviour.
Yes, but most humans can examine their own behavior, evaluate its success, and come up with alternatives based on experience. Current "AI" agents cannot do that. They are algorithms that perform in tasks defined by their programmers. The "AI" agents will keep hammering until a programmer rewrites them to include a screw-driver function.

Did they just pick the easiest two people for the AI to outsmart?
It probably works both ways, though. The AI is probably the one entity at the Pentagon that can listen to these two with a straight, unblushing face.

If, where I last worked, a lower level employee was caught fiddling with privacy-sensitive data, or testing company software beyond company bounds - dismissal.
Above a certain pay-grade, the only way to fall was up.
Ah, but that was where we worked. Remember DOGE and its 20-something undergraduate wunderkinder? Data protection, sand-boxing, firewalls--that stuff's all old hat now that we have AI magic.

Commonwealth Bank has adopted artificial intelligence with gusto in recent years. While it hasn't always gone smoothly, the prioritisation of the technology has been clear, with the bank even going as far as to axe 45 human jobs as part of its automation push.

The bank quickly backtracked on this decision, as members found work had spiked upon the bot's introduction despite claims it would reduce calls. While the jobs were offered back, the AI bots have still stuck around, with the app bot – named Ceba – drawing mixed reviews.

https://theconversation.com/is-this...-dump-has-left-mathematicians-in-shock-293837
Earlier this week, OpenAI published a trove of hundreds of mathematical results it claimed could “push the frontier of human knowledge”. Produced largely by an unreleased artificial intelligence (AI) model, the 722 papers relate to 372 open problems covering everything from algebra and geometry to theoretical computer science.
OpenAI has already retracted three of the papers due to an elementary error and amended several others due to mistakes that invalidated their results. This suggests, at the least, a lack of sufficient vetting before publication.
Reactions to the OpenAI drop have been mixed, ranging from “obviously the most significant moment in mathematical history” to “mathematicians aren’t so thrilled at this giant pile of turd dumped at our doorstep”.
