Hello, this isn't the first time I've read or heard about the Armstrong Whitworth "Apollo." Until now, I'd only heard of the name from the postwar A.W.55. It was new to me that the name "Apollo" had been used by Armstrong Whitworth before. It appears to be a similar aircraft to the "Ajax."

The Ajax was a two-seat general purpose day bomber or fighter derivative of the Atlas army co-operation aircraft. The A.W.17 Aries was an improved Atlas Mk.I. The image is definitely not the Aries but looks identical to either Atlas or Ajax (they are virtually indistinguishable). Although the name "Apollo" would fit right in, I'm pretty sure it didn't exist before the A.W.55.
