We have a number of authors on the site, and the rule is there to protect their work. If you need a high res copy of these images, you should buy the book.

Ok - now i understand - it is fixed now.

Picky Note: the rule should remain even if the authors *weren't* on this site. If the author in question happens to be *dead,* that might make things different, dunno.

Of course you are correct Scott. I didn't mean to imply this was the reason for the rule, but to emphasise that breaking the rules could have consequences beyond my censure.

Hi all,

Does anyone know if any other aircraft? where to be carried like the V-1 Huckepack on the Ar 234 or any of the early German missiles.

All help and views would be great!.

(Mistels and) Fw 190 + Fi 103 project

Thanks for that AF,

That Fw 190 with the V-1 looks really cool!, do you know if it was ever tested or was it just a a drawing board subject?

Lockon.

This was just a project of the DFS named Projektzeichung F59 "Brummer". It was published by Professor A. Rudolph to use the V-1 with tactical purposes in March 1945.
It does not seem as if the Fw 190 was powerful enough so that the assembly could achieve the required speed of 360 ft/sec to start the pulsejet.

The design did not admit the installation of the takeoff Schmidding rockets. Therefore it would be reasonable to assume that the pulsejet was started with compressed air before takeoff. Perhaps that was the function of the oval tank fitted to the trolley as shown in the attached drawing.

There was another Hirt project to launch the V-1 from a Bf 109 G-6 (please see attached drawing of a similar device) but it required to make at least 31 modifications to cure the displacement of the C.G.
The "Loon" American version could also be launched from the B-17, B-24 and B-29 bombers.

The Soviet versions Chelomei 10Ch and 14Ch were launched from the Tu-2, Il-4, Yer-2 and Pe-8 bombers.
The "Huckepack" system was exclusively designed for the Ar 234. I have seen similar devices in the Martin Baker and H. L. Bowers "Swinging Arm" ejector seats projects only, but not in any missiles.

Some more Mistel combinations from "Der Flugzeugschlepp von den Anfängen bis
zur Heute", E.Peter, 1981, Motorbuchverlag, AFAIK only available second-hand
today.
- Ar 234C-3 with the Ar E 377 glide bomb
- Me 262 with an unmanned Me 262 ,
- Ju 287 with a Me 262 as lead a/c
these were pure projects, and
- Do 217 with Me 328
a combination for flight testing.
