Hi stashandr thanks fore the very nice pics! I dindt know that Antonov was thinking of a Airbus 380 competitor! but on the other hand its logical of Antonov to think big, they have a lot of experience with very big aircraft.
best regards

Thank you for the pictures stashandr . Does anyone know the details of these aircraft? Is there any commonality between the Antonov An-418 and the An-124 or An-225?

This project based on An-124 like B-747 based on Boeing C-5. The fuselage changed because of pressure, illuminators, etc.
Fuel efficiency - 25-26 g/pass on km, passanger capacity - more then 800 pass (to 10000 km).

Global Security had a 3 view, of sorts, of it, but not a lot of other information. It was designed to have a range of 10,000 km (about 6200 miles) with a full passenger load of over 800 passengers, that becoming 12 to 13000 KM with a smaller passenger load, meaning about 550 passengers.

Apparently, design began in the mid 1980s, and was abandoned in the early '90s.

The article seemed to have been written by someone translating from Russian.

No specifications were included, and this was the only actual article Google could find on this plane aside from the reference to it in our forum.

Yefim Gordon in 'Unflown Wings' writes of the An-418; "The designation is presumed to carry a reference to the four D-18 engines [the An-318 having three D-18s]... a double deck airliner broadly based on the An-124 cargo aircraft. It differed in having modified wings and undercarriage and, of course, a redesigned fuselage... one source credits the An-418 with the capacity of carrying 800 passengers over a distance of up to 10,000 km (6,215 miles)."
It seems its existence was revealed in the Soviet press in November 1990.

An article over a few pages with pics dealing with the An-418, as well as other large and smaller unrealised Soviet passenger jets.
