Seems the helo rotor could be from a MH-6. So this contradicts the US narrative of being "stuck in the sand".

This doesn’t contradict the narrative. MH-6s are C-130 transportable. They were brought along either to support the ground element or possibly pull the WSO from the mountain. When the MC-130s got stuck, they cant just fly the MH-6s out. They would be destroyed along with it.

So far we know at least one of the QRF aircraft that came to pickup the initial CSAR team was not a 130 platform, so its possible the rest weren’t either. That being said they couldn’t load those MH-6s onto the QRF planes.

Geez, what a mess. Glad they brough the F-15 WSO back to home, but at a pretty insane cost. Of course OH-6 and C-130 are easily replaceable.

Well MC-130Js... So slightly more expensive and less replaceable, and two A-10s and two MQ-9s (possibly not part of the rescue effort). almost the same as Eagle Claw (7 helos, 1 EC-130).

U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drones protected the crew member by striking Iranian military-aged males believed to be a threat who got within three kilometers of the Airman, a person familiar with the operation told Air & Space Forces Magazine.

Prior to locating the aviator and launching the rescue mission, “the CIA first launched a deception campaign spreading word inside Iran that U.S. forces had already found him and were moving him on the ground for exfiltration out of the country,” a senior administration official said. The CIA then helped find the Airman and Trump decided to launch the rescue mission.

From this? Everyone is losing.
except :
- The bastards making millions on oil and stocks speculation while being well informed of what next "genius" declaration from the White House.
- Putin, who can now sell his oil at twice the price of two months ago, which eases the pressure on the Russian economy and allows him to continue funding his own stupid war.
- The IRGC, who in fact, controls most of Iranian economy, including oil export of course, now also make twice the profit from what they can sell while not caring a f*k about the Iranian people.
- The most fanatical and extremist IRGC leaders who remain, who are rising to positions of power one after the other as those currently in power are killed by the targeted assassination campaign – which is, in fact, the aim of the campaign...
With only fanatics left in power, one can shout “surrender!” for the show as much as one like, there is no longer any room for negotiation, and the war can go on.

That does not contradict anything.

MH-6 are fast and light transportable assets, but with a limited range. From where they were it couldn't have flown out of Iran, even at full fuel capacity.
Whatever plane was used to EXFIL the group was either not big enough to accommodate everybody and everything, or the MH6 was damaged, or simply left behind because it is expandable.

The cost is insane, but everything can be replaced except the F-15 WSO. Their life is worth more than the $300M.

I await the bean-counting counter argument [from anyone, not necessarily you, Archibald] that it doesn't cost $300M to train a WSO. My preemptive response: Pray you're never in a spot where another bean-counter is determining whether your life is worth the bill.

Pardon me, talking about actual people rather than those folk you mentioned, hardly fair to classify them with the rest of us, IMHO, of course.

  • Said "Praise be to Allah"
gigabased wallahi, I'll stand on this.

If the U.S. deaths of this operation can be kept below two, then I consider it a success.
An US citizen being regarded so high. Iranian lives so low.

All this and Trump still hasn't poison-bombed Iran's water sources though. The war will go on for month, maybe plural if he's still glued to negotiating and stuff. But the recent op may give him ideas. Maybe more SOF.

We've only been through one fifth of Linebacker so... enjoy, Leute.

So, on Easter Sunday, Trump has:
  • Threatened war crimes
  • Used an expletive on his personal social media platform
  • Said "Praise be to Allah"
  • Moved the deadline for the start of war crimes from today to Tuesday
This man is evil and his supporters are evil.
War is not a crime.

War is not a crime.
Targeting/killing civilians and destroying civilians infrastructures is a warcrime, at time of war :
The targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure during armed conflict is explicitly prohibited under international humanitarian law, and such acts are considered war crimes. Here are the key official texts that specify these prohibitions:

1. Geneva Conventions (1949) and Additional Protocols

  • Fourth Geneva Convention (1949): This convention is dedicated to the protection of civilians during times of war. It prohibits attacks on civilians and civilian objects, and requires that parties to a conflict distinguish between military objectives and civilian populations and objects.
  • Additional Protocol I (1977): Article 51(2) states that "the civilian population as such, as well as individual civilians, shall not be the object of attack." Article 52(1) further specifies that "civilian objects shall not be the object of attack or of reprisals." Article 54 prohibits attacks on objects indispensable to the survival of the civilian population, such as food, water, and medical supplies.

2. Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (1998, amended 2010)

  • Article 8 of the Rome Statutedefines war crimes, including:
    • "Intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population as such or against individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities" (Article 8(2)(b)(i) and 8(2)(e)(i)).
    • "Intentionally directing attacks against buildings, material, medical units and transport, and personnel using the distinctive emblems of the Geneva Conventions in conformity with international law" (Article 8(2)(b)(ix)).
    • "Intentionally using starvation of civilians as a method of warfare by depriving them of objects indispensable to their survival, including wilfully impeding relief supplies as provided for under the Geneva Conventions" (Article 8(2)(b)(xxv) and 8(2)(e)(xix)).

3. Customary International Law

  • The prohibition of attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure is also recognized as a norm of customary international law, binding on all states regardless of treaty ratification.

Summary Table of Key Provisions

Key Provisions on War Crimes: Targeting Civilians and Civilian Infrastructure
Treaty/ProtocolRelevant Articles/ProvisionsProhibition
Fourth Geneva ConventionArticles 3, 16, 33, 53, 55, 56, 147Protection of civilians and civilian objects; prohibition of collective punishment, destruction of property, and attacks on civilian infrastructure.
Additional Protocol IArticles 51, 52, 54Prohibition of indiscriminate attacks, attacks on civilians, and attacks on objects indispensable to civilian survival.
Rome StatuteArticle 8(2)(b)(i), 8(2)(b)(ix), 8(2)(b)(xxv), 8(2)(e)(i), 8(2)(e)(xix)Criminalization of intentional attacks on civilians, civilian objects, and use of starvation as a method of warfare.
These texts form the legal basis for the prohibition of targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure during armed conflict, and violations are prosecuted as war crimes under international law
But of course, that's for educated/civilized people, not the ones currently in power in any of the parties involved currently and their followers.

What's not being widely reported are the dozens of Iranian vehicles lit up as they tried to converge on the temporary US operating base and rescue site.

Supposedly, no Iranian IRGC made it close enough to the operating base for there to be a firefight with US Special Forces.
