The immediate concern China has with India is back-and-forth pushing over a few tens of square miles of territory high in the Himalayas. The Indians couldn't cross over the Himalayas, no? Let alone with a numerically and technologically superior PLAAF engaging them
However India is also extremely well placed to interdict China's Belt and Roads initiative to Pakistan, the Gulf and Africa and Europe; and has ongoing border conflicts with China's primary client, Pakistan. The Indian Navy would be operating in its own waters, PLAN at the extreme end of a very dodgy supply line.
And if India were sufficiently pissed-off I've no doubt they could encourage significant unrest in Tibet, which China is extremely sensitive about.
TLDR: it's not really conventional land warfare China has to worry about.
