I assume I'm not the only one that has noticed the growing trend of utilizing inverted bows on large surface combatants that's emerging currently. As far as I am aware the Zumwalt-Class kickstarted the trend in the 21st century at least, with the French FDI following and Germany and Korea joining in with additional proposals.
I was wondering, what changed that this choice of hull design is suddenly becoming so popular? And what are the big advantages and disadvantages of this design. I hoped some people on this forum with infinitely more expertise and knowledge could provide some explanations and context.
