You're probably right about that.I'm sure that the tail-fins after they're deployed (Probably something like 100ms after launch) would actively stabilise the SDB to stop it tumbling.
Edit: I strongly suspect that once the SDB's wings are deployed it will rapidly decelerate to high subsonic speeds.
The original SDB was capable of supersonic launch, so SDB-II almost certainly is as well. IIRC the tail deploys for control and the wings stay stowed until subsonic. Which makes for a very large airframe, basically the same size as FAXX itself. And that's not likely to be very attritable due to cost. I'm going to disagree with that.I doubt we ever see CCAs with a2g ordnance bigger than an SDB.
Which is why I don't think a ground-attack or SEAD CCA will be particularly attritable.The relatively low CCA cost only comes from scaling the aircraft down to 1000-2000 lbs warload. Anything big enough to fire even a pair of ARMs is going to be large enough it warrants buying an F-35 instead.

The issue with every CCA now needing to carry a pair of MALD-J/equivalent is that you now need space for another 2 weapons internally. So a spear-carrier CCA that could hold 4x AAMs, is now down to 2x AAMs. Or one that carries 6x is down to 4x.I suspect having more, less capable jammers is a lot more useful than having one NGJ emitter. I think it likely the CCAs likely carry their own ECM - it would not be very expensive to add something with “Bright Storm” level capabilities to an aircraft that was in the $10-20 million range. That seems more useful than a dedicated NGJ standoff jammer. If every CCA then also carried a pair of MALD-J or some NGAD updated equivalent (ideally something the CCA software agent directly controlled for maximum effect), a force centered on a single manned fighter might have a wall of false targets to hide a half dozen firing platforms.

As to what jammers are needed, IMO something like NGJ pods are important in terms of range of frequencies. But moving from Growler standoff to CCA stand-in means that the jammers need much less transmitter power.

Agreed here.I guess you might need wider frequency bandwidth, so perhaps dedicated jammers would be necessary. But for anti air work, you probably only need x band.

So what is going on with the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group? Over the weekend, this Nimitz-class super carrier lost its second F/A-18 Super Hornet in less than five months while conducting combat operations against the Houthis in Yemen… but just like the first loss, this Super Hornet didn’t go down from enemy fire. Instead, it just… well, fell out of the carrier’s hangar bay with a tow tractor still attached.
But as bad as these incidents have been... it's also important that we understand the context of these losses.
An F/A-18E from VFA-136 being towed on the hangar bay fell over the side of the USS Harry S Truman as the ship was maneuvering to avoid getting hit by a Houthi weapon. One sailor was injured while jumping from the jet before it went into the water, but there was no loss of life.

We've been hitting them for months, just blew up a port a few days ago. All it's accomplished it's getting a bunch of reapers shot down, a Rhino in the drink, and using up weapons we could be detering PRC with. But hey at least the President Who Will End All Wars has articulated a coherent strategy about.....well F-ing nothing at all really.Ok time for Linebacker III too bad we don’t have 400 or so B-52s anymore.
