Women what? As if men suddenly disappeared from the advertising space-time continuum. When people with money call the shots -- I know, a Star Wars cooking/baking comic -- this is what happens. Having money does not equal having creativity.

In short, Rhode Island General Treasurer Seth Magaziner is trying to force one of the biggest credit card company to stop processing payments for entirely legal things. He says it's to prevent the dissemination of "ghost guns" (which are themselves entirely legal), but his proposal would make it impossible to accept credit card payments for any and all repair parts for any and all guns.

Do you think it's a good idea to separate people who are obeying the law from the ability to engage with the economy? Should communists be de-banked? Should socialists and liberals be barred the use of state currency? Should people with "wrongthink" be banned from the use of social media? How about the radio, television, telephones? Should people who vote the wrong way be barred from public transport or airlines?

When Obama was President and tried to restrict certain weapons and ammunition, he became the gun sellers' friend. I read story after story about happy store owners. As soon as he threatened to ban something, that particular gun or round sold out, even at gun shows. "We can't keep it in stock." Or "The manufacturer can't make enough." were common statements.

This whole obsessive/compulsive political thing has got to stop...
 
That was in one of the pieces helpfully linked to by OBB. Before you know it we'll be discussing that delightful Tommy Robinson - the UK correspondent of Rebel News. I'm mildly disappointed in the sudden lack of enthusiasm about OBB combining SW and cooking.

One must assume Mr Bayer is in full support of these actions or completely ignorant of what's going on. At best he's callously talking out his ass. People have had services cut off for their political beliefs. (By Patreon, VISA, Apple, Amazon, GoDaddy, Go Fund Me, etc.)

They're not illegal in most of the rest of the country. And the bits and pieces that would not longer be purchasable with Mastercard if Magaziner got his way are legal pretty much everywhere, including Rhode Island. It's akin to banning the sale of tires and steering wheels because drag racers are illegal in your state.

Dr. Who ain't my jam, but I remain convinced that some, if not all, of the damage done to the brand could be reversed by a simple trick. In the very last Whittaker episode, she "wakes up" and it's Matt Smith or Peter Capaldi... turns out all the Whittaker episodes and retconning the character to utterly change the character was a delusion projected into the Doctors head by some evil Matrix-machine (possibly a project of the Master) as a way to psychologically destroy the Doctor. But the Doc recovers, says something about all that being a nightmare best forgotten, and life goes on.

Professor Tosspot reviews the year 2020. Due to various issues, this video was delayed by rather a lot. A lot of horrible things happened in 2020, but it's worth noting that in this roughly hour-long review of 2020, the good Professor spend about 15 minutes discussing Star Trek (starting at about 44 minutes). He is a lot harsher on "Lower Decks" than I would be, but his opinion of STD and STP is spot-on.

The generation that had just gained power in 1972 knew that it could lose it because of scientific advances, the best solution to stay as long as possible on the back of the tiger was to design a future so hateful and unpleasant that no one wanted to move further in that direction.
 
Without wishing to be boringly on-topic, does anyone remember a science fiction series broadcast on UK TV that had a plot that went [as near as I can remember...] along the lines of; some sort of alien thing kept emerging from portals / wormholes / whatever and destroying things. If memory serves, they had a go at the Lake District first (why not Northamptonshire???). The end game of it all was a programme of rolling nuclear detonations that left the UK in a rather bad way (clearly, this wasn't noticed in Wellingborough ;) )

It was probably a load of old nonsense but I've been trying to track it down without success.

Thanks for the idea but no, it wasn't. Similar but the one I'm thinking of was older (90s probably). Also, no dinosaur type things in the one I'm thinking of. IIRC only one series (thankfully?).
