Now imagine if a vegan US or British model mispelled it that way (to you, Natalie Portman), the firestorm on social networks.

Darned tootin' it is. That's the best way to deal with the cosmic horror that is life on Earth: laugh at it.
In my opinion it is too patriotic a scene to be casual, it reminds me of the journalist who asked to change the first flag planted by the Marines in Suribachi for a larger one for the photo. A long fall.
