I understand that the two halves of the rear wing changed incidence was used for roll and pitch control.

However my translation of Krasilschikov isn't reliable. Did the aircraft have yaw control? Could the pilot control the rudders on the tips of the rear wing? Thanks!

unfortunately we just know from the designer Mikhail Aleksandrovich Kuzkan's series,the MAK-8,MAK-12
and MAK-15,does anyone know more ?.

My notes refer to M.A.Kuzakov and not M.A. Kuzkan but this may be down to my translation way back at the turn of the century (no online translators just a scrawl in a notepad!).

MAK-15M (Motorised Glider)

Between 1956-57 the MAI laboratories began modifying a standard M-15 glider to be powered and have vibrating slats. Designer M.A.Kuzakov (M.A. Kuzkan?) provided the aircraft, A.I.Boidyrev devised the vibrating slat system and the drive mechanism.

The engine was from Polyakov and a development engine evolved from his earlier VP-760. The slat took up about 66% of the leading edge.

The engine was mounted adjacent to the centroplane. Experiments showed the functioning slats caused extensive fatigue in the wing structure causing failures. The programme of development ceased when this occured in 1957.

Thank you my dear Cy-27,

and for Mr. P.A. Ivensen,the I-1 was a glider Project of 1926,the I-2 was alight aircraft as in Various pre-war Soviet projects
topic,the I-3 was a single seat glider and the I-4 was a high performance sailplane,derivative from I-3 as my dear Cy-27
explained,the I-5 was a postal transport aircraft,I don't know if it was built or not,the I-6 was a single seat low-wing sailplane.

what was this designer,Petsukh,and his series PAI-1 to PAI-7 ?,I never heard about him before ?.

I have some details on the CO-1 and CO-2 mentioned above, from the book Gliders of the Soviet Union by A P Krasilshikov (1991) ISBN 5-217-01048-7. Unfortunately its in Russian and I don't have a translation to hand at present. I hope it helps.

A. I. Pietsukh at the age of 16 built the world's smallest glider (PAI-1), independently learned to fly it and demonstrated it at the aviation festival in Kiev. At the Osoaviakhim glider factory, under the leadership of O. K. Antonov and B. N. Sheremetev, they created the PAI-2 glider ("Pavel Golovin") and the PAI-3 glider. At the glider school, where the author of the book worked as a teacher, he created the design of the tailless glider PAI-4.
After the great Patriotic war, working as a senior test pilot, A. I. Pietsuh designed and built the PAI-5 and PAI-6 gliders
PAI-7 project 1954 ( page 287 of the book "Wings of youth" Pietsuh 1954)
