WWII Martin Marauder Model???? Surely a VTOL transport!

Agree. Looks like a tilt-rotor or tilt-wing VTOL to me. Maybe a model tested at the Glenn L. Martin Wind Tunnel at the University of Maryland not too far away.

It has a Multhopp T-tail suggesting post-war vintage, but could be immediately post-war (1946-47).

I would put it more around the mid 1960s - maybe something around the time of the XC-142?

It has this blunt body, and wide nose, as if it was a squashed and fattened C-47. And those long, comparatively narrow wings with large prop engine pods. The shape also suggests a seaplane.

I suspect this was an "estate find" of a model kept by an engineer.

The shape of these suggests to me Allison XT40s, which would make it very late '40s or '50s . . .

I'm going to say 1953 at the latest, but it still has these late 1940s lines.
