Does anyone have information about these strange birds?

In particular the MBZ-3 of ww2. This machine was used for observation duties by the French during the invasion, and may have been used by the Germans for anti-partisan duties on the eastern front. Production figures were apparently north of 50. At least one example survived the war and was used for advertising. There may have also been a variant of the MBZ-3 with a different cabin then the one in the below photos.

All I can find are a few photos and a single drawing of the MBZ-3, and next to nothing about their use during the war. Any further information is very welcome!
