Greetings and Saluations,

12 C-130H Hercules entered service in the Italian Air Force in (May???) 1972. Does anybody know what happened to them after they were retired (in 2004???) in favour of the C-130J. I know the Romanian Air Force bought one on 24th June 2004. I think Brazil may have bought some.

The sale follows Italy's acquisition from late 1997 of 12 C-130J and 10 C-130J-30 transports and related support equipment including training services under a deal worth $1.5 billion. Lockheed Martin bought back Italy's retiring fleet of 12 C-130H aircraft as part of this agreement. I believe Brazil bought 10 ex-Italian Air Force C-130Hs from Lockheed Martin. Romania bought another one. I wonder what happened to the twelfth C-130H? Probably at AMARG. Compared to the Herks built in the sixties still operational with airforces across the world (Mexico and the UK for example) it probably has quite a bit of life left in it.
