Vast releases design of Haven-2 commercial space station
Vast Space unveiled the design of the space station it plans to propose to NASA in the next phase of the agency’s program to develop commercial successors to the International Space Station.

Decades have passed since a space station primary structure has been manufactured in the United States. Vast is changing that. Our Haven-1 qualification primary structure is in its final stage of welding at our HQ facility. Next, the completed structure will go to our Mojave, CA facility for a critical test to demonstrate its ability to handle the pressure and dynamic loads of launch and operation.
Our Haven-1 primary structure qualification article was shipped to our Mojave, CA testing facility this morning. The shipment includes the domed window, hatch, and tank mass simulators, which will be used in the upcoming integrated load and pressure test.
The Vast team here is part of a larger in-house group that designed, manufactured, and integrated the article at our Long Beach Headquarters.
The Haven-1 primary structure qualification article has arrived at our Mojave, CA test site. The team is now conducting lift operations to install the article on the test stand.

A space station primary structure hasn’t been manufactured in the United States in decades. Haven-1 will be the world’s first commercial space station—a major step toward succeeding the ISS and advancing U.S. innovation and leadership in space. At the core of this effort is the Haven-1 qualification article, a full-scale model designed to rigorously test the structure’s strength, safety, and performance.

Vast has signed an agreement with NASA to test its Haven-1 space station at an agency facility ahead of its launch next year.
Vast announced April 3 that it signed an agreement with NASA to conduct environmental testing of Haven-1 at the Neil Armstrong Test Facility in Ohio. That center, formerly known as Plum Brook Station, features facilities for thermal vacuum, acoustics, vibration and other tests.

The Haven-1 Experience is a full-scale walkthrough of the world’s first commercial space station, expected to launch in May 2026. Former NASA astronaut and current Lead Astronaut at Vast, Andrew J. Feustel, provides an up-close look at key interior features, including the Haven-1 Lab, crew quarters, and the zero-gravity sleep area system.
