On the reconstructed cruisers both the Talos and Terrier missile stowage had deck loading doors for reloading, one for each arm. Now on Long Beach the drawings show only a single door for the Talos but none for the Terriers and later Standards. How was the Long Beach forward missile stowage reloaded? Via the loading hatches behind the launchers?
As far as I know - yes. The Terrier Mk-9 GMLS, installed on "Providence"-class cruisers, were similar to Talos; the missiles were held on the individual trays:

The Mk-10 system, used on Long Beach, used rotating rings system, so it could be loaded through the launcher doors.
 
Made an error on the text regarding the Talos launchers number.
No they are SPG-51's, forward of the bridge superstructure, the SPW-2's are the small ones above and below the SPG-49's aft.
Since I've asked that question I was provided with a photo showing the Terrier reload doors just next to the 2nd Terrier launcher:
Or I guess they should be the magazine reload doors.

Updated the thread, fixed the broken image links and added more drawings (of the finished Long Beach).

Somewhat other:
Some of the Long Beach preliminary designs which feature the Radio Star Tracker Dome seems to lack space or position for a dedicated surface-search radar (SPS-5/10 etc) I've put the navigational SPS-53 radars on these designs as well but that is quite a small low range radar. Did the designers expect that the SPS-32/33 be used in the surface-search mode as well? Could it even do Surface Search?
 
What are your sources for variant 2? also, portholes near the waterline? (also, isn't this section for sources and discussions, not for artist impressions? maybe I misunderstand how the secretprojects forums work)

That is the original hull of the Long Beach and there are indeed holes near the waterline, just I mistook them for portholes. They are for excess / waste water?
 
Yeah, those are exhausts of some kind (water or otherwise), there are no portholes in engine rooms normally ;)

But what are your references for Aegis CGN-9 variant 2? because I have seen no good references that match that design anywhere.
